If you watch HS video of Russell and Kaawa, it’s pretty obvious which is the more polished (Russell). Don’t get me wrong, Kaawa is a big dude, has a big arm on him and can make some really nice throws, but the level of competition is radically different.

Russell played at Duncanville, which is a powerhouse program and playing at (I think) the highest level of competition in the Dallas metro area. YUUUUUGE difference between that competition and what Kaawa faced.
I’m curious as to whether these athletes get any kind of financial training or guidance regarding NIL money?

Think about it, the vast majority of 17-20 year olds are pretty clueless when it comes to money in general, taxes, and how quickly it can be blown on stupid stuff (fancy cars, women, jewelry, etc).

Yes, it’s their money and they can do what they want with it but some of these kids are receiving 7 figures, which could be life altering money if played right.
He also qualifies for an NFL pension. Not sure how or at what point that is paid out.
The guy lasted 8 years in the NFL and started 72 games in total. Not too bad for a guy who had originally been a walk on. Congrats to him for a successful career!

Palmer could also be absolutely clutch at certain points in critical, big time game. Ole Miss in 1994. Dude put the team on his back in the 4th quarter in an incredibly hostile environment and did it all passing, rushing, receiving and punt returns in one of the most impressive single game performances I've ever seen.

One of my all time favorites was vs Tennessee (I think same year as OM) where he made clutch catch one after the other in the last two minutes of the game and then going to two with Bama lined up in the wishbone and Palmer at QB. The collective looks of absolute panic on the UT defenders faces. Even after a UT time out and everyone on the planet knowing Palmer was going to keep the ball, they STILL couldn't keep him from scoring.

I know, I'm ranting but honest to God, he'll always be maybe THE most gifted offensive athlete of all time at Bama. Literally every time he touched the ball, you kind of expected him to score.
Don’t know what happened but I’m sure they were run off by the company that calls the shots on the quad. It galls me to no end that the owners of that company are Auburn alums. I hate like hell to see any of those walking turds make any money off of UA and Bama alums.
David Palmer also had balls the size of tractors. The dude was THE most fearless player I’ve ever seen. I also think he had a smidge of really good luck because if you watch any highlights video, literally no one ever got a vicious lick in on him. He had incredible body control and could kind of contort himself to miss those hits.

He had good but not great speed, great hands, fearless and also the shiftiest player at Bama I’ve ever watched.

I always felt so lucky to have seen him play in person at BDS. Just an amazing player.
Regarding stacking 4 and 5 star players, I think there are still a few schools out there who can do and will continue to do that: OSU, Texas, A&M, Oregon and Texas Tech all appear to have semi unlimited funds with no end in sight. IMO, it’s only going to get worse.

There will be some former 4 and 5 star guys who aren’t playing that will hit the portal but I also think some guys who aren’t playing, as long they’re still collecting their 7 figure NIL money, they’ll be OK with sitting a year or two.

Frankly, I think unless there is some kind of cap, we’ll eventually have a few teams with rosters with $100 million in NIL (or more).
I saw a video of his commitment earlier. Not a tall guy but very solidly built. He's clearly not one of those guys who have to redshirt to put on 20 lbs.
That's a little harsh. Neither of these kids have ever played a down of college football. Will Sales be a star? Probably but there are no guarantees.

Simmons isn't the most physically imposing but he's quick, has good hands and could be extremely effective as a slot receiver. I know he plays at a smaller classification but 2000+ yards receiving in one season is still impressive.
Pretty sure this is fake. First of all, it doesn't use his legal name Coleman Williams. Second, it doesn't give off the feel of the guy relative to how he's acted off the field. Third, if this really was Ryan Williams Coleman, he'd have a hell of a lot more followers than 2000.
So weird that anyone would downvote a simple question. I'm pretty sure he's been in Tuscaloosa this summer and barring something crazy happening, he'll probably be the 3rd team QB this Fall.

He kind of reminded me of Ty Simpson in the A Day game. He made several nice throws and had a couple of nice runs. He's a much better athlete than some think.
I remember my brother and I went to A Day the season before Sims took over. He was the heir apparent and I remember walking back to our car telling my brother, "We're f***ed if Sims is the QB". I think Lane worked miracles with him.
A couple of things that stood out about those the players:

1. The players were a good bit smaller. We had offensive linemen that weighed 240 lbs (?!?!). Those guys would get killed at that weight now. LOL

2. That Bama team was fundamentally sound, especially on defense. Good pursuit angles, very, very physical with solid tackling technique. Little to no arm tackling and a lot of tough licks. Very few missed or broken tackles. Just a tough, tough defense.

Yes, players are bigger and faster now but I’m not sure they’re quite as tough as that 1978 team. Those guys were tougher than woodpecker lips.
I was there too and while I think Russell is better, Mack was hobbling around with a bum ankle. It seemed pretty obvious to me he wasn't 100 per cent out there that day.

I love how people who really don't know all that much can come right out and make some outlandish opinions and act like its gospel. IMO, these type of takes are really their secret wishes because 99% of these "experts" would LOOOOOOOVE to see Bama be on par with Mississippi State or Boise State.

The ONLY way CKD would be fired this coming season would be if he had committed some kind of horrendous NCAA violation or criminal act. Having said that, if he did go 8-4, I still don't think he would be fired but I DO think his coaching seat in 2027 would molten magma hot. The pressure on him in 2027 would be incredible.
I know, I know, we're gonna have a small class this year but whiffing on a 3 star WR to MARYLAND?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! I don't care how anyone spins it but that's a terrible look.
Shhhh. Truth and candor are frowned upon by some on this board.
Agree completely about the O line improvement. It can't be overstated how critical it is that they improve. While they don't have to be dominant, if they can be consistently decent to better than average, this will go a long way in determining how good this offense will be.
Supposedly choosing Ole Miss.
I’m thinking LSU? I seem to recall we’re tied for #3 at $30 million.
