Rob Lyles was put in his position to clean house and move the school in a positive direction. Over the last 2.5 months, I have never seen the level of communication to parents from any school regarding steps forward and especially personnel matters. That certainly doesn’t exist in public schools with superintendents and elected official school boards. All parents were invited to participate in the interview process for the elementary principal finalists just this week. They both appear to be stellar candidates . He’s doing a great job.

I have zero clue why Lab is always such a topic of negative conversation. Not everyone wants to attend a parochial/Catholic school.I’ve never known a friend to not get their kid in Catholic or SJA if they have decent grades. Are there children of influential people that attend ? Yes. Do they recruit athletes like any other school? Yes. Are they selective because the school is small? Yes. As a parent, my hope is that going forward recruitment will consider academics and athletic giftedness. Lab has a wonderful performing and visual arts program.

I would like to think my child was admitted because of a stellar transcript, LEAP scores and performance on the admissions exam. We play no sports and had no ties to the school. We toured every middle school classroom and they were not crowded as some have said. The new students list for middle school was quite short. The Golden Gala was amazing this year and everyone has been extraordinarily friendly.
