re: Landry taking over in the slot

You make a good point. But, Miles and staff have never figured out what to do with Shepard, and I don't think they ever will get the most out of him.
Jarvis Landry looked great last night and he looks like he is ready right now to take over the slot.
I think they should have used Russell Shepard just like they planned to when they signed him. MIles has let Jefferson's slow and regressing progress slowly eat up this Tiger team.
I would have moved JJ to a wide out or a DB and moved Shepard in a long time ago. But Shepard is not successful and needless to say Jefferson is certainly not.

Michigan likes Miles but probably not enough to pay him $ 4 million a year. But, why would Miles even want that job when he has one of the top 10 jobs in college football now.
He has the # 7 and rising recruiting class coming in with a young but now experienced team coming back. Tiger fans gained a new respect for Miles when he beat Alabama and Nick Saban.
He will not be leaving LSU.

Maybe so, but Oklahoma sure couldn't when it had the chance. This the first year OSU has had any kind of challenging team, so don't talk so big as the Sooners will be showing you a thing or two tonight.

NutsforLSU:
LSU has the entire D-line back from 2007 except Dorsey. The entire OL from 2007 is back and was supposed to be the most dominant in the country.
Here are some of the young and untested playing.
--Chirs Hawkins All State
--Patrick Petersen (#1 ranked CB in the nation)
--Jai Eugene rated in top 10 CBs in 2006.
--Charles Scott was Mr. Football in La.
--Keiland Williams was one rated as top 10 RBs.
--Richard Murphy was rated as 3 star recruit.
It goes on and on though out the roster. IT is because of the returning talent LSU had on Defense that caused them to be ranked #2 in the nation earlier. Do you think they rank teams that high if they don't have quality talent? LSU has finshed in the top 12 in recruiting for the last 8 years or so.
Your statements about lack of talent indicate you are misinformed and maybe you need to keep up better. LSU's problem is clearly Coaching and it is not football Talent as anyone can see that.

IF the head man can't coach and make the correct decisions, the assistants can't pull him through by themselves. He can still overide their decisions and counteract their thinking. All head coaches have to make decisions during tough times, and I question his decision making ability.
Les has proved to me that he can't coach defense for sure and I think his decision to stay with Lee so long has hurt the team morall and faith in the system. Then take the embarrassing performance by the defense and you can see the whole team is down, uninspired and in a downward fall. Losing sets in easily and it is hard to get the winning ways back again.

LSU has been to the penthouse and the fans won't stand for a free fall next year. Les had better make big changes and hire a great DC and replace several assistants if he wants to remain. Making $4 million will insure he must produce or go.

Les won't be here for a few more years if he doesn't win big next year. He makes too much money to be allowed to be mediocre.
Outside of QB, LSU has good talent now, just poor coaching. I don't see Les being able to put LSU back as Elite team.

Well all I can say is when LSU won the National Championship last year, none of this talk was going on about Peveto.
But now that Peveto is one of the Co-Defensive coaches and we know how bad that has turned out, everyboy is atacking his special teams coaching. I am not saying is the best special teams coach, but I think his also better than many others. Arkansas got nothing yesterday, and I don't remember Ole Miss doing anything. But, maybe Arenas of Alabama did as he is one of the best along with Brandin James of Florida.
See Ya as I am going to watch Alabama and Auburn.

Uncle STu:
You've got the facts I see. I see those as average except for the kickoff returns. Does that count Trindon's (2) TDs last year ?

They won the National Championship and Trindon ran back a couple, plus LSU was know for headhunters and not giving up much on kickoffs. Take guys like Brandon James of Florida and what can you expect this guy is unreal. But I do also agree LSU had good special teams play last year.
So I don't get getting on Peveto as an aweful special teams coach, but he is certainly no DC for sure, and I think we can all agree with that for the most part.

Maximus:
LSU did win the National Championship with Peveto as the Special teams coach didn't they??? I don't remember any big special teams breakdowns last year, and the Tigers have always been real hitters and headhunters on kick off, plus Trindon ran a couple back and is always a step away from going all the way. We did have a couple of punts blocked, but good God everybody has that occasionally.
What evidence do you have that Peveto is the worst special teams coach in college football ??

Uncle Stu:
I think LSU has good special teams for the most part. They are very tough on kick offs, and decent on returns. The only question was the punt team, which seems to have done ok this year after some formation questions. But, I don't see getting on Peveto as this aweful coach. He is certainly not a good D-C, but I thought his special teams coahcing did pretty good last year. We did win the National Championship and Holiday seems to be a step away from all the way anytime he touches.

That is my take also. I don't care for stupid talk like the previous writer, but Peveto has coached on a lot of staffs and he is a good recruiter, so I would not refer to him or anyone as my previous friend has.
He can ceratinly help as a recruiting coordinator.

I totally agree. When Troy puts up 31 points before you make any adjustments, that should tell us a lot about how bad the Coaching really is.
Each week they are in the wrong defense and seem to be playing the perverbial "Playing not to lose " rather than trying to win. Every time we bring pressure on the QB, we are successful and stop the play. When we are in Coverage, we get eaten alive.
Coaching is definetly the problem.

I don't necessarily agree that there is a big dicipline problem on the field, but I think Alem and Johnson are just getting sick and tired of losing and they are frustrated. These two guys are two of the bightest Defensive players LSU has this year.
All of these guys are winners and they are not used to losing so they are having a hard time dealing with it.
Don't get me wrong though, their conduct cost the team big time and that type play must not be tollerated. Les was not tough enough in my mind, as he just put his arm around Johnson and talked to him, when Nick Saban would have been livid and in his face all the way to the bench. You have to make an example out of that stuff and just do not allow it.

Crowton -- OK, but could be replaced if needed.
Maybe hire a good QB Coach to help with
QB basics.
Peveto -- could keep but not as position coach.
Mallory -- Gone
Lane -- Defenitly gone.
Studrawa -- Gone.
what more evidence to we need to replce him. No running attack with a verteran quality line that fails to perform or adjust against quality teams.
Little or no blocking Schemes on run plays. No holes at all to run in Arkansas Game.
Porter -- Keeper for now.
Henderson -- Keeper
George Edwards, Phil Bennett, or John Tenuta for DC.
