Physics is very competitive and there are few positions around. Believe it or not, getting a professor job in Physics is very difficult even in small universities like McNeese. We did try to hire another professor and we had almost 100 applicants and some with MIT and Caltech Ph.D.s.

I cannot be 100 % sure but the building was locked during the weekend and he had keys to the building (he was the department head at that time). He was playing anti-immigrant songs and he would call me in his office and would tell me the song was for me. When I told him I would report him to the Dean he sent me an email offering 2000 dollars to stop doing that. So stupid. But the Dean didn't do a thing against him even with all the evidence. McNeese has a bad reputation for this kind of thing. They got sued by the Federal Government for not being up to date with the Disability Act. There is a video out there where the President of McNeese says "People with disabilities can go to other universities" during the trial.
They just don't care.

Being an AI is a compliment these days, I take it.

It is a very stressful and intense job (but rewarding if you love teaching). It is not easy at all in particular in a small college like McNeese. They assigned 5 classes to teach each semester and I did my research in the weekends or summer. You bring home your work every day.
Stinnett was not doing much research at all. I brought a lot of grants to McNeese and he was jealous and harassed me for it.

I'm sorry for your experience. A professor should be proud of how many students learn and pass his class, not the other way around. I was a Physics professor at Mcneese and he harassed me all the time. I reported him many times and they just protected him and gave him tenure. I actually loved teaching at Mcneese because the students were great and the community is nice but the administration is awful (I think LC is actually a nice town).

This guy (Steve Stinnett) did horrible things to me when I was a professor at McNeese. When he was a department head he was playing songs against immigrants and telling me "This is for you Giovanni !" he was always making comments against foreigners (I'm from Italy) and harassing me all the time. One day I found writing on my office door with black paint saying: "DEGO DIE". It was done on a Sunday and only faculty had access to the building. I knew it was this guy that did it. I ended up suing McNeese over this. I told McNeese's administration about this sick person but they protected him and they gave him tenure instead. Incredible. Shame on you McNeese.
