Lulz i was forced to go to the Boise St @ La Tech this past year and Tech couldnt even fill both sides. Not to mention the tarps they have covering up the seats.
Middle of the week games are a problem when your school is in a small town and your alumni base has to travel to games. If the game were on Saturday, the turnout would have been much better attended. Nevertheless, attendance has been trending the right direction.

2007 ? Ambrose was not even in college then.I thought you were reasoning that Tech was presently a fast team and that Carter was as fast as ambrose. i simply do no recall seeing Carter as competition for Ambrose in recent meets. Please someone with technical skills Google Luther Ambrose and post the fastest times in 100m sanctioned by ncaa so that reason may be had by all.
That is nice and all. Not saying he is not super fast and I am not saying he is not faster than Carter, but it is hard to compare the two when they very rarely run the same event at the same meet. The conditions vary from one meet to another, so Ambrose may have put down that 10.19 with better than average track conditions. He did get some wind assist on that run (1.3). Terry Carter was running the 200 at that meet, so we can't really compare how they would have done head to head.
Nevertheless, track speed and football speed are not always the same thing. Our defense plays with great speed and GATA spirit.

We had decent speed on offense last year, but this year we should be MUCH faster with Creer, Molton, Paige, and Casey joining the group.

I assure you that neither livas nor any of your other players is as fast as Ambrose.
Ambrose and Terry Carter (our DB) are pretty close. Here is an instance where Carter beat him in the 100m.

But we have a number of other speedsters, including one our latest DB recruits who laid down the fasted 110m hurdle time in the nation last year.

I was referring to recruiting ranking thus far as the thread was about a commitment that tech has received.
Which year? This year? We only have 2 announced commitments right now, but it is way to early to evaluate a recruiting class.

Check out the current standing of team talent and you will realize that Tech is only doing ok.It would be a major shock for tech to lead the WAC. Not saying that they will not but am saying that none of the reviews that I have read project that. Last I saw ULM was ahead of tech in the scout team rankings.
You must be batshit insane. Tech would curbstomp ULM. Tech is loaded with talent, and much faster talent, compared to ULM.
But it would be a pretty big shock to lead the WAC this year. Boise returns everyone except their CB, and we have to play them on the blue turf. If we end up with Masoli, however, it could be an interesting game. Boise can be a humiliating place to play, so no one in their right mind would pick Tech to win this game.
Playing Fresno and Nevada at home helps. We have to play Hawaii on the island, which has been a real challenge for us in the past. Idaho and Utah State, perhaps the two most improved programs of the WAC, will be in Ruston. We play the creampuffs NMSU and SJSU on the road.
The schedule sets up nice for a conference run this year with Boise being the biggest roadblock (as usual). If Boise loses to someone else in conference (Nevada or Fresno, most likely) and 3 teams end up with 1 conference loss, Tech could be one of them, and could be a co-champion. That is a very optimistic view and probably the only realistic best-case scenario where Tech could "lead" the WAC.
Remind me....when was the last time ULM had a winning season in FBS?

But short of Ensminger, I haven't ever heard of these guys. I would dare say that none of these guys were offered a schollie by LSU. I know Ensminger originally went to Auburn and then transferred to Tech.
Ensminger is one of the worst players on that list. These guys did not have LSU offers, but many of them have been/will still be very good D1 players.

And WE think WE have our conspiracy theorists...
So, we need to forget all the replays we've seen, including slo mo and photos appearing even on this site, and believe that La. Tech has re created the video, under laboratory conditions that no one else can see, and concluded: good, clean hit.
Oh...OK!
Look at where the white wrist bands are. Maybe you are one of those slow driving folks on the road.

Miles is a "Titty Baby"
I wear "purple panties"
Redding is wrong
the WAC supervisor of officials is wrong;
The NCAA is wrong.
Ergo: Boyd made a great, clean hit.
Seems to me there were moral victories and great play all over the field to be found for Tech that nite.
Boyd's flagrant foul, cheap shot was not among them.
Your efforts to lionize Boyd cheapens the efforts of other, more deserving Tech players that nite.
Shouldn't you get along to school now?
(1) The WAC commish is spineless. This has been the case long before he suspended Boyd. His ineffective leadership of the WAC produced the Mountain West and CUSA-West. The emails that he has sent to LaTech fans have been completely unprofessional. He has always waited for people to tell him what to do and has never done anything proactively. He should have been fired long ago, and that has nothing to with Boyd.
(2) The rest - If you judge the replay on initial impressions, it is easy to see how you may first conclude that Boyd initiated contact with his helmet. If you frame-by-frame the hit, however, (and I doubt Redding, Parry, Blackwood or Benson even bothered to do this), you can clearly tell that Boyd came into the tackle arms out into the chest of Toliver. That is technically not a violation of the rule. The two SEC officials that were right there must have agreed, and we are left with two replay angles that are shot from anglest that will produce a perspective bias (making it harder to judge distances between objects that are closer to the camera from those that are further from the camera). At the end of the day, the officials on the field have the best view. How could something that they think wasn't even a foul now be found to be flagrant???
Here is what happened: Legal hit was made on the field. It was close, they could have thrown a flag. Miles, being a titty baby, and probably hearing complaints from his fans, decided to submit the thing for review. Redding watches the low-definition replay once or twice and sees Boyd launch, make contact with another player's helmet and leave the player lying on the ground for a minute or so. He thinks to himself, this is the type of penalty I wrote that rule to protect against (i.e., does not even look at the rule and analyze whether contact was initiated below the shoulders first; certainly doesn't frame-by-frame the hit). He calls Parry and Blackwood (in some order); they conference call, and he tells Parry and Blackwood what he thinks. They look at the play without analyzing frame-by-frame and agree. Blackwood tells Benson what happens, and Benson - wanting to protect Boise State first and foremost (and having a history of treating Tech has a second-class member of the league) - goes along with the recommendation so he doesn't have to take any political heat.

There are actually some at Tech who understand the rule and have no problem with it's application, even belatedly, to their players.
It's astonishing...
Are you wearing your purple panties today?
The rule is what the rule says. Unfortunately, Redding is the last person that should be interpreting the rule that he wrote because he will interpret the rule based on what he meant the rule to say rather than what it actually says.

Here's the bigger issue:
T1 provides a link above which quotes a NCAA official (Parry)who refers to his discusssions with the WAC and Rogers Redding (SEC supervisor of officials).
Based on this memo,it appears the NCAA intervened on the call, not the SEC.If that is true (and I am not sure it is, it just appears so from the memo), this is quite an indictment of the SEC. The memo also says the official should be disciplined. Was he?
Is the SEC saying ANYTHING about this?

If you don't think it was a dirty hit, then you need to remove your head from where you sit. I won't argue intent (as I don't think he intended to cause harm) but it's clear he launched himself high and made helmet to helmet contact on a defenseless receiver (thanks Lee...I argue that TT doesn't try when you're on the field and you do this shite to give him a reason).
It's a half game. It's a message from the WAC official to try and stop these hits from happening. They put the rules in because of the viciousness of such a hit and what it can do to a player unable to protect against it. 15 yards will do very little in the scheme of things. Start suspending those hits, even half a game, and the message will start to get across.
I applaud the WAC commissioner for this.
It does not violate the letter of the Rule (9-1-3). We have asked the WAC for clarification, and will let you know what they say. Sounds like Les Miles whined to the SEC and the SEC manipulated our spineless commissioner.

Yes, if you watch from 36-38 seconds, you will see Boyd's arms contact Toliver before H2H contact occurs.
