"I will be the coach at LSU next year."

re: O'Keefe and Bertman

Because by saying that he is LSU's coach and will be LSU's coach, he is keeping all of the attention on LSU and not diverting any of it to Michigan. That's the idea!
Exactly what did you expect? He didn't want to have to address this today but Herby made him. Furthermore, he said that he has no interest in talking to anyone else. I think he handled it perfectly.
I really wish that they would post the age of each poster on this rant. What do we have to show for the last few years? Well, a Peach Bowl win and a Sugar Bowl win. Maybe some of you don't remember when we were used to playing in the Independence Bowl. Exactly, how spoiled are LSU fans now???
Sorry, but I have to disagree. I'm not a big Miles fan whatsoever, but I don't blame him for this situation.

First, he didn't start the speculation.

Second, he is in the business of coaching, in your business do you not try to make as much money as possible.

Finally, he didn't cost us the MNC. In fact, call me crazy but I blame bood ole Tubby. Ever since the "shady" hit on Dorsey we've had trouble with the run. McFadden clearly exploited that.

I'm not trying to start any argument with you, just pointing out the other side.
The TP on Nola.com is citing to Skip to say the deal is done.

it's going to be on espn news
Go figure Herby broke the story the day of the SEC championship game, do you think his timing was perfect or what???? Now that story is being challenged by local stories. This is crazy.

That actually is correct. But I believe that the post above regarding the five year limitation may have been referring to a limit that Louisiana law places on certain appropriations made by the legislature. However, the contract of a football coach would not fall within these limitations. The state does not appopriate the money that pays the coaching salaries. There is no limitation on the years for a coaching contract that I can find, granted my Westlaw research was limited to about 10 minutes.

That would still be incorrect. If the state couldn't enter into contracts for greater than 5 years, then many buildings and equipment which are leased by the State would be under contracts which violate this law. I'll look at the Code and statutes, but I've never heard of this limitation.

Didn't say that you were wrong, I was agreeing with you. There is no law in Louisiana that prohibits contracts of more that 5 years. In fact, any such law would be unconstitutional as it would probably violate the commerce clause. I just hit post reply on your post because it was the last one on the thread. Sorry for the confusion.

Ummmm . . . I'm an attorney, I do corporate and business law, I would love to know the law that prevents contracts for more than five years. Guess in all the years I've read the Civil Code I must have missed that one.

I realize saying that you have a source is like saying you have two legs around here. However, for what it is worth, the latest that I've heard on the TAF stuff is that Skip and one other big time booster are definite no's to Saban. However, a few others are definite yes's to Saban. They have been calling around to different people in a attempt to feel out how the different levels of contributors would feel about it. Clearly, I am not saying that Saban is coming back or anything of the sort. Furthermore, I am not making any assumptions about whether he would come back, what his contract would be, or so forth. I have heard nothing about that. Only that the boosters are being felt out right now about their opinion on the matter.

What about . . .

Nutty to Ole Miss
Coach O to Aub. (because who really cares about them)
Tubby to R-kansas (spend that money Walton)
Miles to Michigan (whether we like it or not it's going to happen)
Carr to ESPN
Holtzy boy back to SC (gives SC a coach and keeps Lou from spitting at me on Saturday from now on)
And Spurrier to LSU!!!!

I believe that would pretty much round out the entire incestuous SEC coaching carousel. What do you think???

I completely agree, there is no reason to go there now, I just find it funny that someone actually went through the trouble of tracking a private jet to determine if anyone was going from B.R. to Columbia. How far will we go to be the first to know??? Fact is, everyone is going to find out eventually.
let's make sure everyone can see it so the conspiracy theory can get even better. I've got $10 that before the end of tonight someone will claim to know the pilot! Any takers???

All planes are owned by an LLC or Corporation now. Usually the registered agent for service is the attorney for the company. He's probably the registered agent for hundreds of companies. Find out what firm he works for and you may find out who his clients are. However, if it is a charter, which is sounds like it is, that won't be of any help.
That has to be one of the worse pieces of journalism I've ever seen. The headline is a quote that says, "I'm not looking to go anywhere," yet the article merely states that a source close to Tubby says he's not going anywhere. Way to go Birminham News Staff, let's start taking all second hand statements and making them quotes. Could you imagine if the Times-Picayune started taking what "sources" on here say as quotes.

The email doesn't say that the money is for any type of buyout. Simply donating to the athletic program tends to have pull at pretty much any school. Just saying, they never talk about money for a buyout.
