Wake separated from the Southern Baptist Convention in 1986. There is no religious affiliation now.

I watched the entire game. Wake fans chanted "ACC." They never chanted "LSU" or "SEC." In my experience, the Wake fan base is very friendly and generally positive in its cheering. Mark Packer has nicknamed Wake "the Swiss" because other ACC schools' feelings about Wake are basically neutral. No one hates Wake.
