re: New money vs. Blue money

If it did you’d have gotten wingo last cycle
I think he tweeted nonsense for like 24 hours straight a few months ago sooo… read into that what you will.
Sarge dumb lies aside, wouldn’t they be behind Oregon anyway?
Seemed like they were picking on #5 Mohammed in the 2nd half, not sure if he was manned against their top wr
Haha hilarious- the A&M “valuation” due to doubling donations yoy from 2022 for Jimbo’s buyout perhaps? Multiplying that by 4 and calling it revenue? Love the rigor… hilarious math

“starting with a base revenue multiple of four for all institutions, and then adjusting the multiple for variables, including conference affiliation, estimated NIL spend, school subsidies, number of alumni and other factors that can catalyze future revenue growth”
The amount of turnover they are having is not the sign of a healthy program. 7-5 or worse

Clemson is like bizarro Texas when it comes to NIL. Should be interesting.
Former Texas now NFL QB Sam Elingers younger brother was a linebacker on the team a few years ago. OD’d on Xanax laced with fentanyl and was found dead. Not sure why it came up on a sign at this point, but I think taffe (safety who had the early int) was HS teammates also.
Takes a special person to put that sign up…
Can you watch that defense and not see playmakers at multiple levels? The d alone puts them in top conversation. Would they take more losses w a harder schedule? Obviously, like every other team
Yep. Oregon, OSU, Michigan, USC, Texas, Miami & Georgia prob, A&M depending on how their donors are feeling…. (Seem to be in a buying mood lately again)

The not list includes LSU,Alabama (goodbye saban discount), Clemson, FSU, etc

Edit… forgot USC

We saw that in the Big 12, where it created its own network whose revenue it didn't share with the rest of the conference

Oh and mizzou was sharing their tier 3 rights? No? Ok then. Also A&M was offered to share

Based on what?

The theory goes something like this:
-not every school participated in the bag game, including some strong national brands. Only 8-10 teams were “in”. Bag game was not $100 handshakes from boosters btw.
-the football bag game was a sub $3m expense to get competitive advantage
-in NIL, all national brands are competing
-the threshold for an upper tier NIL program advantage is an order of magnitude higher (say $15m+ annually)
-a lot of that comes from corporate sponsors, which is tied to markets (vs a bag game which could be bankrolled by a few donors).
-many of the bag game school markets are week for corp NIL which means they can’t scale the program to be top tier. Some also have small donor bases

That’s the framework I’ve heard at least. We’ll see to what extent it bears out. Clemson may be a front runner here
quote:

The alleged gap between Oregon Ohio st and Texas vs bama lsu Clemson is way smaller than the gap between Texas and and everyone in the big 12 over the past ten years. I’d look for results first. Times are changing but the more they change you’ll find out the more they stay the same

I thought we were talking NIL? The haves in NIL are not going to be the same haves from the bag game era. Sorry bama, lsu, Clemson, etc.
Strong stronger refers to Oregon, Ohio state, Texas, Miami, etc. Not the closed system of Clemson, bama, lsu, etc. a bag game of $1.5m vs an NIL program of $20m
I can’t tell which defense is a worse matchup for which offense.
Report is a PCL and LCL and out for the year. Unusual injury- assume it got hyper extended on a knee hit.
quote:

This is one of them. A&M brought in $279MM in operating revenue.

As mentioned, its like $50MM lower than that due to made up “revenue” like a $12MM internal loan and a capital campaign.

Anyway interesting Ohio state edges texas w $44MM less fball rev.
On another forum they said it was based on ATM putting a line item in the agreement around retaining NIL rights even if they leave.

I believe 100 percent this happened.. But NCAA isn't going down the road to seize players phone records and after the Freeze issue at OM... If coaches are using school phones... Then they are just stupid. So color me shocked if anything happens

Would be pretty ballsy for Alabama to do also. See Mack Brown/Drake Mayes convo a year ago...

Mack Brown Accuses of Tampering
Could go either way? On the on hand he has a kid and is getting good projections. On the other his family is loaded + whatever NIL would be in play. So prob less a no brainer than 3 years ago
quote:

Last year we had 10 4*s on the roster at OL. tu had 7 plus 2 5*. Pretty similar.

Well, you're the only one talking about Texas here, but their starting line for 2023 had a SR, JR, JR, and 2 5 start So on it - and So and RS-Fr filling out the 2 deep. Next year they will likely have 4 juniors and a Sr starting.

ATM had a bunch of RS-Fr bouncing around (check the season snap counts), and has the oldest player (Robinson) going NFL and 3 more going to the portal already (2 of the older guys - aka soph, and a 12 game starting fr in 2023). Do you expect the new coach to make a few RS-Soph and RS-Fr into a great line? Esp when your higher ranked guys like Fatheree (injured knee) and Dewberry have been losing snaps, and a starter like Bisontis is bailing. Your only Junior (Aki) has gotten maybe 20 snaps in 2023? Where are the contributing juniors and seniors? IMO that's a multi year rebuild, not coaching up the existing bench. To each their own.

quote:

that was the last time anyone has ever mentioned concussion with the kid and that was several years ago. You are making stuff up.

So we're acting like the Ole Miss game when his head bounced off the ground on the last drive and he missed the Florida game with "the flu" wasn't a thing?

Twitter vid: head bouncing off the ground

Hope he gets the flu shot next year if he is running 10-15 times a game.

quote:

Does any offense work with a terrible OL and injured QB? Gonna have to upgrade the line specifically in the portal.

That was last year's narrative also. Is the portal a viable strategy for rebuilding multiple positions on OL?
quote:

This just reflects your general lack of knowledge about our program. The line talent is there.

More like yours. Lets see that 2 deep currently and their recruiting composite. ATM is paper thin there.

quote:

And which QB has concussion concerns? Connor Weigman had a right foot injury.

Weigman came to ATM with concussion concerns from HS. He appears to love ATM, not sure how much he'll love running 10-15 times a game... not like KState didn't have QB injuries with their "athlete as QB" approach, and not even playing SEC D-Lines.
Interesting hire given the narrative around Jimbos offense being too slow and plodding.

How is his offense going to work with the talent on hand anytime soon - aka a glass QB and a terrible OLine? They also just lost their good TE; he likes to run 2 TE sets and had a line full of RS-SR's. And has he ever had a receiver over 750 yards in a season? We'll see...

Unlikely. At home for the horns on Sr day, and tech has a ton of starters on d injured

Are you actually saying this was a dirty hit? Especially in 2009.

Prob referring to the hit where Aggie Kellen heard hit him after and int was blown dead and he was taking off his helmet in 06 or 07

They processed 2 5 star QB’s in Swoops and Hurd.

You may want to recheck sumlin/aggies recruiting record during that time

I feel like at some point you or your kids must have applied to A&M and been rejected. You seem obsessed with bad mouthing the school. You're giving off psycho ex-girlfriend vibes.

I'm sorry debunking your anecdotal experience and church conversations with widely accessible and basic secondary research facts gives you ex GF vibes. A&M can both be a good school, and meaningfully easier to get into than UT Austin at the same time.

quote:

Last thing- something you keep failing to comprehend is that Texas A&M has been put into this situation by the state government.

What you keep failing to comprehend is that 40%+ of Texas A&M's class falls outside the top 10%, so no. In 1999 this was the case (51% were NOT top 10%), and in 2010 (50% not), and in 2022 (40% not).

The 1997 top 10% law was in place ~15 years before A&M's last 10 years student stuffing binge and watering down faculty rates.

Get it? UT Austin has had significantly higher admissions standards for decades, its not a new thing. If you don't like the vibe, go on Texags or stop posting easily debunked trivia.
quote:

I can promise you A&M doesn’t have 23k or 28k in applicants. It’s much higher.

Right. Those were published stats from 2011. 10 years later it was 42k. I.e. showing that UT was much harder to get into still before the 6% thing. As it was before the 10% thing.

It also one reason people call A&M a diploma mill lately. Almost 20k more admissions after 10 years, and still north of 60% acceptance rate and LESS faculty (seriously - look at it). Meanwhile during that same time period UT Austin shrunk enrollment, and added faculty. Same strategy?

I also find it interesting with 15k more students, A&M only had 1k more graduates a year.
Oh - I thought you said your kid was going to go there for school... so you only care which is a safer city, not campus. Cool.

And to be clear, you started your church story with:
quote:

"The only reason Texas is harder to get into currently is because"

Which is not true.
