Yes he was in booking. According to several news sources that verified court and police records, they said he was in there for illegal possession of the prescription drug Xanax. His estranged wife said it was her prescription that he had picked up. His reason for doing it? His estranged wife could probably answer that since she was the last one to talk to him & he told her what he was about to do.

No Josh is not in a vegetative state. He is minimally conscious and improves more and more each day. He spoke his first word 2 months ago and tries so hard to speak every time he is with his mom. His wife will not get him speech therapy. They would teach him how to talk and they would also get him a communication device that he can use his eyes to communicate with. The only reason he hasn't made more of a recovery is because his estranged wife has hindered it by not allowing him to have treatment. This treatment was already paid for with donations. Over $15k but instead of him getting treatment she spent all the money on herself and went on vacation with her new gf

A feeding tube is not keeping him alive. His body is alive the same way yours and mine is. The only difference is he receives food a different way. Josh is improving and he has not yet had therapy or treatment. He deserves the chance to recover. Nobody should be able to take that from him

Joshua Barras is a 37 year old Lafayette man who suffers from a brain injury. He was days away from his divorce being finalized when his injury occurred. His wife stands to gain a large sum of money if he dies and is fighting to try and starve him to death. She is making no attempt to get him any treatment even though she has done at least a dozen fundraisers and collected thousands of dollars in donations for his treatments. There is a court hearing scheduled for January at which time his mother is requesting guardianship be transferred to her so she can make the decisions in the best interest of Josh and get him therapy and treatment for his injury. Can you explain how a person is "mostly" brain dead? I've never heard of a brain dead person answering questions of following commands. Your statements prove you know very little about brain injuries. The things you are describing are very typical of a person with a brain injury prior to having therapy and treatment. You think it's strange that I would rather see a person get treatment and recover instead of being starved to death? I think it's strange you would suggest to refuse Josh treatment so he can't recover. I think it's strange that anyone would suggest his life is not valuable and thinks it's OK to end his life when he is improving. I find it strange that some people don't want him to have a say in what happens. It's his life and he has a right to live!

He never expressed his desires of what he would want. He is only being kept in his current state because his estranged wife has neglected to get him the necessary treatment and therapy for his recovery. He can not just get better on his own with out help. But she won't get him any help because she doesn't want him to get better. This is all about money to her

Yes the signatures make a difference. People should be outraged that a man who never expressed his desire to be starved to death may die at the request of a woman he was 3 days from being legally divorced from. Would you want a person that you were in the middle of a divorce with to make the decision if you should die? Especially when they have a million dollar incentive for you to die!

Thats wonderful that you have expressed your concerns of what you want but we can't assume Josh would want the same thing especially because he never expressed his desires. People who know Josh personally believe he would want the opportunity to attempt treatment to see if he is able to recover. Many people donated the money to completely pay for his treatment. Unfortunately his estranged wife kept the money for herself.

when did he tell you this?
It was documented, observed and confirmed he was under the influence. And yes he did say he didn't want to die. A few weeks prior he had an accidental overdose and actually died. He was brought back and when he woke up he was so thankful to be alive. He made a decision to get clean because he said he didn't want to die. He was sober at that time and thinking clearly. He knew he wanted to live. Unfortunately a couple days prior to his arrest he relapsed and he was under the influence at the time of his arrest. He acted out in the moment not thinking clearly.

There are plenty of videos that show Josh completely different than how his "wife" shows him. You can tell he is very annoyed when she visits. He ignores her and doesn't respond to her. But when his mom is there he he tries so hard. His mom is not able to get him seen by an Dr because she has no legal rights. Thats what the court date in January is for. The only Dr he has is the nursing home Dr not professionals with brain injuries and recovery
