Wolverines are made in Mexico and their quality has gone to shite in recent years. Redwing are great but are heavy and take a while to break in. Ariat are by far the most comfortable boot I have worn in years. Im on my feet on grating and limestone for 12 -16 hrs a day sometimes and by the end of the day my feet are not killing me. The prices are comparable to redwing and wolverine.
what are your thoughts on dixie chopper

My old mower crapped out on me. Going with a ztr this time around. I'm really leaning towards the Dixie chopper. Wondering if yall had any opinions on them.

Ha. Yeah. Not trying to rub salt in any wounds. Im just exited. Bolt and barrel are coming from two different vendors so there may be some light at the end of the tunnel for us as far as shortages go.

Finally got confirmation that my barrel and bolt carrier group is shipping out today. Ordered them on Dec. 14. Thought they would never come. Gonna finish my second ar next week.

re: Spent all day fiddling with my generator but the carburetor is shot..
Posted by Tony Montana on 8/28/12 at 9:20 pm to Spankum
I did this to two generators since saturday, tear apart your carb again, make sure all of your o rings and gaskets are in good shape (could be why you are pouring gas out) get a wire and some carb cleaner, soak all metal parts down with the carb cleaner and clean out every little hole in the carburator. I had to soak my carb in parts cleaner for about three hours before it would work properly.
re: First part for AR Build arrived yesterday

I am going with a stripped upper and lower matched set from JP enterprises, so I will be able to put any trigger I want in it. I am going to go with a timminy competion skeletonized trigger with a 3 lb pull. I have read many good things about that trigger, plus I like the way it looks.

I have looked at that one, Currently looking at a set from pro mag. not sure which one I will settle on yet. I know eunice well, used to cruise the strip on a regular basis when I was in high school.

jfuselier, that's why I decided to build, I have numerous guns, but have never built any. I have a set of starret roll pin punches recommended by the author of the book I have for my build. I am undecided about the vise block, which one do you have? do you like them? Also, where are you from? My Brother in law is a fuselier.

My Magpul ACS-L stock. Plus some tools that I had ordered. I am officially on my way to building my AR :nana: :nana: :nana: :nana:
Speaking of tools, any of you builders have suggestions on tools that are must have's, I have the non marring hammer, punches, Barrel wrench, and forearm tool, but i am open to anything that may make the job easier.

Carson. Thanks for the info, never thought about practicing on my ar. I have some research to do and some tools to buy before I start, but I am looking forward to getting started.
Thinking of Building an AR
Posted by Tony Montana on 8/2/12 at 7:58 pm
I already have an AR, as well as many other guns. So I'm not a novice when it comes to firearms. I need a break from just going out and buying guns, although I won't stop buying guns, I want something that will be a challenge as well as rewarding. I have lurked many a thread about AR building, but I have'nt payed much attention. I would love to hear any advice from those of you who have built your own. Suggestions for books, websites and local buisnesses would be greatly appreciated.

Good shot in the vest could've knocked him down or staggered him
No it would'nt. I'm a .45 guy, I carry one everywhere. I always thought bigger was better, more "knockdown power" My concealed carry instructor opened my eyes to just how weak handguns were, as well as rifles. they do massive damage once inside the body, but have absoloutly no knockdown power. go to 4 min mark
this vid shows how a .44mag and a .308 have zero knockdown power.
I am not trying to start an argument, I agree with you, someone with a ccp might have been able to stop him, or at the very least, maybe saved a few more people.
