We are controlling this game. I have confidence.

That doesn’t mean we will win.
The way that first half ended was unfortunate but these are two big boy programs with guys who can make plays.
We have been doing that my entire life. We aren’t stopping.

You can interpret it however you like. For me it is a reference to one of the top rivalries in CFB.

The fact that it bothers some Texas fans is both a plus and something that perplexes me. I would take it as a compliment but maybe ‘Horns are just exceptionally insecure.
We did beat the SEC West champion* Alabama in 2002 so there is a good chance we would have played in the conference championship game.

* - Alabama was on probation so they were not awarded the west championship but that is just a technicality and they proved they were the best team in the SEC west.
I think 'Bama should get in.

I am fine with someone saying Alabama would not get in if their season ended today but can work their way in with an SEC championship game win.

But if someone says they should get in today but won't if they lose the SEC championship game, I have a problem with that.

Conference championship games should only help and never hurt. Just my opinion.
This seems to be a perfect hire for LSU. They do not try to develop programs over the long term. They don’t show loyalty to their coaches so it makes sense for them to hire a guy who has no loyalty.

And that is fine. They have won a few titles this century doing that.

A program wanting to develop their identity for the next decade would/should never give Kiffin a second look.

I’m arguing that you barely beat a team that barely beat WKU. That simple enough for you?

Sure but it is an extremely weak argument.

But I wouldn’t expect more from a fan base that doesn’t understand what a three way tie is.
quote:

I’m concerned that OU beat LSU at home by the same score that LSU beat Western Kentucky at home the week before.

That would make a little sense if WKU beat LSU by the same score. Then maybe you could argue we are equivalent to WKU. It would be a dumb argument but I could see it being made.

Whatever you are trying to argue is stupid.

It isn't trash talking pointing out a factual record from last year. You guys are the new Nebraska, and you will quickly realize that next year....

Do you have anything to back that claim up other than hopium?

Proximity to HS talent in DFW area, recruiting, etc. does not back that up. Hoping we fall because we spent a century kicking your arse doesn’t make a convincing argument.

If I were you I’d be really worried that OU will fix their historically bad offense. If they do then we will compete for titles.

If they don’t and the defense takes a leap back then things could steamroll against us but the odds are better that we remain solid and fix our offense. Line should be really good the next couple of years if we can keep it together.

For those saying Oklahoma is a Top10 football team …. It’s not. Geez I thought LSU’s offense was a disaster. Didn’t realize OU’s is worse.

The offense the last two years has been historically bad. That is not normal any more than our terrible defenses last decade were the norm for OU.

And before anyone claims we are only bad because of SEC defenses, we have been bad offensively even against cupcakes.

No doubt the LSU team we played is not a normal LSU team but neither is the OU team.

Even if Venables struggles to turn that around, I don’t think we could remain as bad offensively as we have been. If they remain that way Venables won’t keep his job as defenses production will have peaks and valleys.
Florida fans can’t wait for the listing for bath salt addicts.

Their good looking Oklahoma cheerleaders are from the state of Texas

Ou has more National titles and Heisman winners that TX.

The implied digs on A&M (not being Texas's rival) is brilliant.

Next year the schedules will be more balanced because we will start a rotation where every team in the SEC is played at least once in a two year period.

That means that Aggy will not have the opportunity to avoid all the teams in the top half of the SEC standings like they have this year.

It is this year or never for Aggy. And you can tell by their posts that they are anxious about blowing their only opportunity.

Texas will probably beat them. But if Texas doesn’t, UGA/Bama will beat them. But I would prefer that they not even make it to the Benz because I don’t want to see those gay milkmen in Atlanta.

Their conference schedule is a joke but they're also a very good team.
Lanning's talk is just gamesmanship. It really isn't worth spending brain power worrying about it except for entertainment purposes.

he also mentions that Kirby Smart has a clause in his contract that if any coach were to ever get paid more than him, Georgia has to match it. WOW!!!

At some point someone is going to make a contract where they get an automatic raise to be the highest paid coach plus $100k or something. Then another coach has the same and we'll end in a recursive loop to infinity.

Not that that could or would be enforced but as crazy as stuff is now I wouldn't dismiss the possibility of such contacts existing.

Sounds like someone is worried OU may eventually steal their coach?!?

I don’t see Heupel going back to OU. He is doing well a Tennessee.

There was also some bad blood when he was let go as OC. (His biggest issue was bad QB play the last couple of years.)

Then again I think there may have been some bad blood between Venables and Stoops as V was essentially getting demoted to co-defensive coordinator. But that was likely an order of magnitude less.

But you never know.
I am fine with that because those wins were not flukes. Defense stepped up and won those games.

If we can improve offensively the next couple of years we will be downright dangerous. And I think we will considering we are starting three freshman on the line (assuming we can keep them).

Pretty much. It was rivalry in name only.

Yup. It was the Super Bowl to them and was just another game to us. The only reason it mattered to us was the trash talking we would get on the rare occasions they won.

It was never near Texas and Nebraska.

Nebraska was the true end of year or close to end of year rivalry. Hated losing that one but it was lost when the Big 12 was formed.

Honestly. If they weren’t obsessed about A&M they would have done it and not come to the SEC. Frankly, I think they made the wrong choice. They absolutely could be ND. And should have gone that route. But A&M’s 2020 season scared the crap out of them. They are here because we are. Full stop.

You are talking about Texas in a thread about Notre Dame. Maybe you need to reevaluate who you think is obsessed.
quote:

based on what? Have you seen their offense? that QB cant throw a forward pass and Pibula will be limited and cant run

Based on A&M getting their arse kicked by OU year after year. Those guys hate OU and pick us to lose every single week.
