he's certainly not going there to compete for anything.

Wrong. SC is in desperation mode and spending profusely in the portal. We are loaded with 6’5”-6’7” wings, his position, so he would have lots of competition at his position and difficulty getting much higher NIL.

I don't think it would apply to them. If I understand the proposal

Key here is that the 5 years starts at high school graduation, 18 yrs for most, or 19 max, so suits can’t go back too many years.
From what I understand, both Bama and UConn moved on from Freeman - or Freeman’s agent. We cancelled his visit and invited Fielder.

Keelon looks like he will be special. If he is comfortable back there in SEC play, watch out.. Jayden Daniels 2.0.

Jayden Daniels is a good comparison. Keelon is cool, calm collected in the pocket. Completed passes all day today to receivers I didn’t see. Incredible vision of the rush and receivers downfield.
Ryan looked great today. Meadows and Morgan had big plays.

blame the NCAA for sticking their fingers in their ears while screaming "amateurism", for the last 50 years. The writing was on the wall decades ago, and they are not going to get an anti-trust exemption.

This is the source of the chaos. Dissolve the NCAA and establish NFL/ NBA models and hold players to contracts- as we do coaches.
We recruited Donnie Freeman out of high school. He could replace Bol Bowen easily. Still need a Sherrell replacement- or addition as I think Onyejiaka, if healthy, will be much stronger inside than Sherrell. Cade Phillips is tougher inside than Sherrell. Sherrell is better shooting 3’s though.

You’re not going to hire like that when you program loses 5 million a year

We lost $10 million last year in women’s basketball. Key problem is attendance. I don’t know why, but gymnastics and softball draw really good crowds, but women’s basketball dies not.
Bama has 3 Elite 8 appearances. First was early 2000’s, then past two years, 24 & 25.
Yes. Nate overachieved with this group. Good guards and wings, but Sherrell is our only good big man.

Pot is legal in about 30 states.. too bad we live in a backwards arse place in Alabama.
. True. Also Alabama is one of only 4 states without a lottery and 6 states without NIL for high school players- the reason good ones go out of state to play. Disappointing that Holloway is thinking about getting stoned rather than getting ready to play, but our law agencies need to concentrate on criminals who are a danger to the public rather than some stoner smoking pot. Next man up.
Great question. No joke, why would anyone move from Oxford, MS to Baton Rouge, LA when he could make $10 mil plus in Oxford. Only a greedy fool would.
Not if Arkansas wins tonight. We barely survived that game at home.
All depends on whether CSC grows a pair and rejects a bunch of these excessive NIL deals which are not actual payments for advertising purposes but old fashioned direct pay to play deals.

I can’t imagine the amount of money it would take for me to go play for a cult.

$7.5 million? Utah Jazz owner buys players for BYU. He way outbid everyone else for Dybanta.

Someone has to push the limit on this. No one is going to get off their arse and volunteer to fix it in congress.

Exactly right. Congress is more dysfunctional than the NCAA. Only lawsuits influence the NCAA. Keep the heat on. Give players 5 years to play 4 starting at age 18.

I love Chuck but please stop.

Absolutely not! As long as the “Gestapo bastards” allow international pros even up to middle/ late 20’s to enroll as freshmen, this needs to go to the Supreme Court. Only thing those bastards respond to is a lawsuit.

Public schools will become a wasteland of problem kids who private schools won't accept or their parents simply don't give a damn

Suburban Bham where I live has self governed incorporated neighborhoods, so schools like Mountain Brook, Vestavia, Homewood, etc have their own school systems. Very expensive to buy a house there and not many affordable apartments- though good players are brought in as in all public schools. So really suburban schools here are semi-private. Not the same in Huntsville, Montgomery, Mobile.
