re: NCAA Baseball Regionals - Friday
Posted by Fan1958 on 5/29/26 at 1:11 pm to TeapotBrown
Who did Auburn throw? Did they "save" their #1 for later because this was a gimme? If so, let this be a lesson to all those who advocate for throwing your #3 guy against a "weak" opponent and saving your stud for later. May not be no later.
But then again Bob Gibson couldn't help if the offense is shut out through the first three.

Not expecting much from Texas today, we’re pitching a freshman with very little playing time. Resting up for the regionals.
Arkansas will probably make him look like the second coming of Koufax, Ryan and Gibson all combined. Kinda like getting excited when hearing the Bama QB was injured back in 2002 or 2003 and Brodie Croyle came in and looked like Tom Brady.

I don't know if Omaha current has what is needed for the trial run, I know they told the ABS people no this year, but I didn't pry into why.
Omaha is a Triple A stadium. I think the ABS was tested at the Triple A level before being used in MLB thus don't know why couldn't be used in the CWS.

Anybody have stats on overturned/not overturned ball/strike calls?
I suspect the catcher was accustomed to that pitch being called a strike even though the umpires have known that pitch is off the plate. Now that Big Brother is looking over their shoulder they gotta get it right or look like dummies. Hope the conference uses it in the regular season next year. Yeah, it'll cost some $$$ but the SEC is floating in money.

My 2009 trip to "vaunted" Tiger Stadium saw all the stereotypes come to pass. The only reason I didn't clock the 21 y. o. prick was because I had my wife, 17 year-old son and son's friend and I didn't want to spend the night in the East Baton Rouge Parish jail.
I will give credit to the few LSU fans who were truly embarrassed and apologized for the corndog's behavior.

Other teams talk a big game about pulling back on football to invest in basketball and other sports, I give Arky big props for doing it.
Takes bravery to push against the grain and what most fans want
Maybe 8&5 should take a page from that playbook since they are historically so successful in all their sports.
Tom Pagnozzi has to be up there. Both had 12 year careers. Pags had a MLB lifetime BA of .253, OBP of .299, slugging .359 and OPS of .658. Only 44 HRs though.
McCann had a BA of .242, OBP of .294, .382 slugging and OPS of .676 and 97 HRs.

Maybe until the opposition realized he was like Serrano (not Serraneaux) and he couldn't hit a curve ball.

Not very well. In fact, most likely be embarrassed beyond words.

Good gawd, he is going to get cut and really work for Amazon.
Nah, LSU or Bama, or maybe Baylor, will bring him back and pay him more than he's making in the NFL.

It's only a matter of time before the uniforms look like the jumpsuit worn by Ricky Bobby.

Doesn't Auburn fit this description?
The flea flicker on the first possession of the second half is what nearly did it to The U. Driving, OM didn't stand a chance and you pull that dumb arse thing out of the playbook.
Why? OM appears to be chugging along just fine with Laney in BR. Or we guess he's in BR. Since he left the bowl game early who knows where he might be.
It makes perfects sense baw. Without QB1 getting injured and Chambliss stepping in, OM is 6-6 or 7-5. Book it.

Here's what I know:
Much like Aggie in 2012 and apparently having no idea what they had with Manziel, the OM starting QB had to get hurt, only to be Wally Pipped by probably the most dynamic QB in the game today. If that had not happened, OM would be at home with a 7-5, 6-6 record and Lane would still be at OM and the average coach he has shown himself to be.
This has really got you LSU baws in a tizzy.

Nah, as bad as I despise both, I'd be an Aggie or 'Horn before a Rebel/Black Bear/Land Shark.

Think it's a legit question. OM, without LSU's boy Lane, beat Tulane about as badly without Kiffin as they did with. BUT, instead of a second half choke job in the rematch, beat UGA which Lane failed to do.
So again, is Lane really "all that" or is Pete Golding as good, or better, than Lane?

How long before a 30 something invokes Right to Work law & sues for the opportunity to play college sports for pay?
Is it legal to limit a persons earning potential to 4-5 years?
I posted something similar to this nearly a year ago. These guys are now professional athletes, i.e. they are paid to play.
Let's take a guy like Pavia who is a VERY good college FB player but not good enough for the NFL or even the CFL. There are teams willing to pay him half a mil a year to play CFB. What's to keep him from playing 7,8, even 10 years? These guys transfer mid year, often more than once. How many credits are they taking with them? Are the credits even accepted or transferrable to their new landing spot?
What if they don't go to class? Why should they? I guess CFB will survive but we all need to recognize it for what it is and that's the equivalent of minor league baseball.
