Building a pool in Northwest Houston. Three different pool bids are in. One company is saying they will spray the base of the pool at 10in deep, walls 8in thick and the main beams (under coping) 12in wide x 24in deep.

The other two proposals say they are 6in minimum. I am waiting getting the specific details on these two but wanted to get someone’s thoughts to see if the detailed above is overkill or not. I am told the soil in my yard is not “gumbo” soil and is more sand and clay.

Any commentary is appreciated.

Recent coverage on Corning from Barrons. I didn’t have a clue Croning (GLW) was involved in anything other than cookware.

LINK

A few highlights
Corning trades for just 2.2 times estimated 2021 sales, versus 7 times for the PHLX Semiconductor index (SOX). The valuation disconnect shows up in earnings, as well, with the semi index trading at 26 times expected 2021 earnings, while Corning is at just 19 times.

Revenue in 2021 is expected to grow 14%, to $13.1 billion, reversing a 2% drop in 2020.

Display glass is Corning’s second-largest business, and the company dominates the market for glass sheets used for 65-inch-plus LCD televisions. Sales of giant TVs grew more than 40% last year.

CEO Wendell Weeks said on a recent earnings call that Corning can eventually reach $100 of content per vehicle—up from $15 a few years ago—through a combination of in-vehicle displays and environmental products.

Someone to keep an eye on, not a company to trade but may be a company to invest in.

My assumption is that ZOM needed funds and their schedule pushed to the right due to COVID. They have a planned date of late March to begin selling their product and leveraging their partners sales team. My question is did that March date push back? I haven’t seen any news pushing that date back. Since they are not turning a profit, the date pushed and they probably need money to float the business with some contingency until then.
Does anyone know why some OTC’s are available to purchase on certain platforms and some are not? This is during market hours but Merrill discriminates against some for some reason.

AT - have you looked into the spac Ciig (ticker CIIC), they are an EV out of the UK who just sold 10,000 vans to UPS with an option to buy 10,000 more. Their manufacturing model is completely different than the norm, they will have several smaller factories instead of a few large factories. They are also getting away from the metal presses for the doors/panels, apparently this is a large expense, and using a different type of material which eliminates the metal press altogether.

Cgrand, did you get out of GOGO before the drop or are you still holding? Any idea why the drop? Looking to get in since it has stayed under $10.

Not sure, could be one of those get in and get out. Scrolling the web and it looks like the a PE company MIGHT buy be looking at them. I think I’ll buy some and take a chance. Looks like GOGO just sold one of their businesses to deleverage themselves and help cash flow. If you buy and you’re worried then set a stoploss.

Last time I hopped on one like this that CG recommended (GRWG) and made dough in a recent sale.

NIO has been performing lately. ER next week. I’m heavy GRWG, NIO, and DBX. Have some FSLY but no where near the others.

Thought DBX would do better considering the ER today. Call went well mentioning their partnership/collaboration with Adobe and Zoom. Every matrix was up. Will hold for some time hoping it pays off like GRWG.

FYI, love this thread. Lots of good info and ideas of companies to look into. Bc of this I made a great deal on PINS late last week, had stoploss at $65 and took gains from $41.

I posted about KIRK in late Aug, I’m not a big fish and I’m not paying a service. Then the stock was $7.75 and now $10 AH. ER is 28Nov and I think they should be favorable. The number of stores have decreased and earnings maintained last qtr.
KIRK update
- Sales increased 10.2%, including e-commerce growth of 77.1%
- Net sales increased 4% to $124.7M with 44 fewer stores
- Gross profit improved to 28.6% compared to 22.2% or an increase of $9.1M
- Ops expenses reduced to 28.4% from 38% from prior year quarter
- EBTDA to $6.8M compared to adjusted loss of $10.7M in prior year quarter
- Cash balance of $27.6M with no outstanding debt; total liquidity $78.9M

Anyone have thoughts on KIRK marching up the ER? I grabbed some shares at 7.75 on 28Aug and they haven’t disappointed so far.

Also, any idea what news that’s hurting BNTX? I’n getting crushed there and haven’t seen anything but good news.

Anyone have anything on BABA? Everything I read seems like they should be good. ER is upcoming on the 13th and should kill it.

Thanks. I guess, green is green as long as I’m not trying to hold long term and keep my stop loss up-to-date. Appreciate the insight.

cgrand,

What are your thoughts on JNUG, from what I see there are big gains but the bottom could fallout. Good to set a stop loss. In at 128 but just wondering how long the ride could last. Looks like the next point of resistance is about mid 300’s. Not something to hold long term from what I see.
