Chris Carrier suited up for basketball in the mid 80s when they were short on players due to ineligible players, injuries, and illness. I think Todd Kinchen may have also been on the roster for the basketball team in the late 80s.

I would argue sue gunter had two of the greatest basketball players to ever come through LSU in Walker and white.
Sue Gunter was not coaching at LSU when Walker and White were recruited. They arrived at LSU in the fall of 1980 when Barbara Swanner was the head coach. Sue Gunter began coaching at LSU in the fall of 1982. White had left the program prior to Sue Gunter's arrival. Walker did play her last two seasons for Gunter.

The ball in the women’s game is one inch smaller in diameter and 2 oz lighter.
Actually, I believe the women's ball is one inch smaller in circumference, so more like .3 inches different in diameter.

Practicing against guys is a common practice and has been for a very long time.
Yes. Even back in the late 70s, the LSU women's team practiced against men; however, it wasn't as organized an endeavor as it is nowadays.

Eta: Waaay before my time, but Maree Jackson must have been an absolute monster. She has (including tonight) 8 of the top 10 single game rebound performances in LSU history
Yes. Maree, an Australian, was a terrific Lady Tiger. She was very physical in the post area and, like April Reese, was able to anticipate the trajectory of rebounds and get in position. Maree was also an offense machine, averaging more than 26 PPG with a field goal percentage north of 65% for her career. Her daughter, Lauren Jackson, was one of the premier WNBA players for many years. Lauren is now retired.

Like when our punt returner tried to jump on a horrible punt that was going to give us great field position regardless and he jumped on it as it was bouncing around a bunch of MSU players and the whole stadium had to hold its breath to see who came out with the ball.
It is possible he thought the ball hit one of our players... the ball came very close to one of our players who's back was to the ball.

You really can't coach shooting....
You can improve footwork which will keep the shooter more balanced, which will improve results.

I am curious what the attendance was, seems like they have a nice crowd there
Attendance was 5882
I think it is equally creepy that Kim is on the mural in the practice facility. Way too soon for her to be up there.
re: It's offical, LSU Beach is #1! Has any LSU team ever done this this fast?

In year seven, and started with no home court, we are #1. Has any sport at LSU ever come close to being #1 this fast?
I figured I'd register in order to answer this question...
The women's basketball program began varsity competition in 1974-75. At that time, the women's association (AIAW) had not yet merged with the NCAA. In 1977-78 the team was ranked #1 at times during the season, but was upset in the playoffs. The team had finished national runner-up in the previous season (1976-77).
