re: OJ loves those LSU Tigers

Y'all can have him on your side for this one, we don't mind.

Really sorry for the loss.

Wish we could both have teams at full strength.

Yeah. Unfortunately, football is a very violent and physical sport. Injuries are almost a given if you've ever played in it.

Do the 32 Belly Option on two. It gets us every time.

Big loss for us. At least with Perkins, we have the depth to replace him. With DTY, we replace him with an inexperienced backup like Broiles or Criddell.

Probably depends which team shows up. They can look good or look awful. They had a handful of close games and they lost to KSU. My only worry is Hurts since we struggle with running QBs.
I wish we were facing Baylor or Utah instead. Those 2 I wouldn't worry about one bit.

I will say if you can keep OU's offense off the field as much as possible by winning time of possession, as well as getting some key stops and creating turnovers, then LSU would probably come away with the win. However, stopping Jalen Hurts is no easy task at all.
You've all been Rick-rolled! Move along.

Aside from the murders, I always liked OJ.

Solid troll.
There's no doubt he was the best player and the most valuable player in college football. I'm just happy an OU player finished 2nd in the voting after two back-to-back years of taking it home. Joe is definitely as great and as talented as Baker and Kyler and there's no doubt he will go 1st overall in the draft!

Well anyway, I'm looking forward to a fun matchup in the Peach Bowl. And I wish your Heisman winner the best of luck! Let's hope for a college football version of Brady vs. Mahomes between two of the best college quarterbacks in the nation!
quote:

Look, I like Oklahoma, aight? I think y'all have done very well down the stretch and your defense has really stepped up to match the offense the past few weeks.

Well considering OU has the top ranked defense in the Big XII and ranks 8 spots higher in total defense than LSU's, to only say they've "stepped it up" would be an understatement.

quote:

So, I don't want to come off as an arse when I say this, but Lamb is the only Sooner player who would absolutely start at LSU in 2019 (and, frankly, it would be somewhat close between him and Jefferson). Gallimore would play a lot in the rotation and maybe start. Motley might be the nickel versus 5 wides.

It would absolutely not be close between CeeDee and Mr. Jefferson. CeeDee is ranked higher according to Draft Scouts WR rankings for the 2021 class. If CeeDee leaves, he'll be a first round pick. Jefferson will be lucky to even sniff Day 1 of the draft if he goes high in the 2nd round. Neville Gallimore ranks higher than Rashard Lawrence for the 2020 DT class, and if you think Motley is our best DB you haven't even seen Bookie Radley-Hiles or Tre Brown play. But since you say he "might" start as your nickelback, well thanks I'm sure he'd be very flattered to play alongside your talented secondary.

That's it

Ok, so you dare to underestimate the talent and depth of OU because perhaps it isn't as sexy or appealing as LSU's? OU has a damn good offensive line led by a Rimington Award finalist in center Creed Humphrey and OU's ground game averages 6 yards a pop. OU also has a dynamic passing attack that averages 11.4 yards per pass attempt featuring not only CeeDee, but also receivers Charleston Rambo, Lee Morris, and promising group of young freshman receivers who were all five stars according to Rivals last year. Perhaps this will be the game Jadon Haselwood finally breaks out, being that this game will be in his hometown of Atlanta and there are a lot of OU players from the state of Georgia who will be fired up about playing back home. Add to it we have a very talented defensive front seven led by linebacker Kenneth Murray and a defensive line that features Gallimore, Ronnie Perkins, Jalen Redmond, Marquise Overton, and so on. OU sacked Sam Ehlinger 9 times in Dallas, and they also sacked Baylor 6 times in the Big XII title game. They are a very potent pass rush that LSU's offensive coaching staff better not take lightly. As Alex Grinch is a mastermind of creating presnap looks and confusion that will benefit OU greatly if Joe Brady isn't careful when coming out with his own gameplan.

quote:

(ETA: And I recognize Hurts would start at probably 80 or 90 other FBS teams, but it is what it is.)

Hurts' success doesn't even tell the whole story about how potent this offense is yet again. Lincoln Riley is one of the most coveted coaching prospects that NFL teams are trying to bring in. The reason why is he is such a creative gameplanner and playcaller is he always orchestrates his offense around the skillset of his quarterback, it doesn't matter who it is. With Baker, he ran a more "Air Raid" oriented attack and with Kyler, he ran a offense that centered around the "Run-Pass Option" and it's the same thing with Jalen, but with more of a power run than a finesse run. I'd be certain to presume he'll run this same effective gameplan against an LSU team that struggles with dual threat quarterbacks, as evidenced by Ole Miss's Plumlee.

We’re the best offense they’ve seen by almost 14 PPG. And we’re the second best defense they’ve faced.

Only the second best defense? Well that certainly bodes well for an offense that averages 8.15 yards per play.

It's one of the most famous fight songs in the history of college football.

And you will hear it a lot come December 28th!!!!

Another thing LSU doesn't have (which Bama and UGA had in our last two playoff defeats) is an explosive "running back by committee" group which dominated our inept defenses thanks to Mikey Stoops.

I always get flashbacks of Sony Michel scoring all over us in that Rose Bowl defeat to Georgia.

That Troy team would beat K-State this year...

You sure about that????

K-State's coach won four straight FCS championships with NDSU.

Agreed. It's pretty disgusting when people make jokes about disasters (e.g., Hurricane Katrina)

As much as we love to talk some good-hearted SEC vs. Big XII football smack with you fellas, I assure you we would never resort to anything like that. And if there is anyone who does, we'd be the first to tell you they aren't in our fanbase.
