A new chain can be bought for the same price of sharpening tools. I guess it depends how often you use it and if constantly buying a chain is worth it for you.

Crossing the River(at Venice) in a Bay boat
Posted by 11duke7 on 6/27/24 at 9:52 am
I see the river gauge is projected to be below 6 feet this weekend and planning on fishing Venice. Any advice for crossing the river in a 20 ft bay boat? Most likely crossing from cypress cove marina to Baptiste Collette
Gonna go with the Terrova. Looked into the lowrance/MG linking and doesn’t seem worth it. Thanks for the feedback!
Minn Kota vs Motor Guide Trolling Motors
Posted by 11duke7 on 5/3/24 at 10:31 am
Deciding between either Riptide Terrova or Xi5. Both seem to have the same features, but there's about a $500 difference. I have a Lowrance so the Motor Guide's capability with it is nice, but not a deal maker if the MK is that much better. Thoughts on the two?
Flying back with game meat
Posted by 11duke7 on 1/9/24 at 12:33 pm
Going on a Kansas goose hunt in February and wanted to see what's the best way to get the meat back home. Flying American - Is it better to ship it via UPS/Fedex?

Had the same thing happen to my 2017 and it became so bad I just bit the bullet and had the dealership replace it. I read that a cause was due to water coming in from the sharkfin(antenna above driver seat). I also sealed up that gasket with some black silicon to make sure no more water comes in to hopefully prevent it.
VHF Radio For Inshore Fishing
Posted by 11duke7 on 6/14/23 at 2:32 pm
There are times I go fishing in Louisiana where I don't have cell signal. I would like to get a handheld radio for emergencies and communicating with a friend's boat when they go as well. What should I be looking at? How many miles of range do I need?

So I got the Navionics card and I realized dock to dock guidance isn't supported by the helix 5 I have. What other benefits does this card have outside of the standard GPS that comes with the hummingbird? This is my first time with a boat that has a GPS

Just got a new boat that came with a Helix 5. What are yall using for the navigation card since the LA One is not compatible?

Any updates on the parking lot/bait shop?
We had to contact them because my gf incorrectly wrote her 89# and they were only able to find/send us 1 photo.
Fished the long rocks Sunday, every spot we stopped at had action. We threw back a limit of specks and 4 bullreds but was still able to take home a nice box of sheepheads and specks.

Wont go back after going to midsize. I think it helps if you come from a baseball background. The club feels more familiar in my hands.
