re: In a bar in OHIO

So do most of the fans here.
I'm an OSU fan and agree that LSU should be #1 based on their resume. The wins LSU had against what those teams were ranked at the time is amazing.
That being said, I think it is closer than many on this board are saying. Either way, both teams have had a great season and I hope to see them play in the playoffs.

That would be nice. Add to that, Burrow and Thomas were teammates at OSU as well.
I think LSU should be #1 in that scenario. I don't think LSU gets enough credit for their schedule. That being said, I don't think OSU's schedule is as cupcake as is being implied. OSU has a better schedule than Clemson or Bama.
What it really comes down to is that the ranking doesn't matter. Win your games and in the end you play each other.

re: Ohio State losing to Minnesota

It is all a nice made up scenario, but I don't see Minnesota beating Ohio St. Palmer asked if anyone thought that Minnesota even had much of a chance and no one was on board.
I'm not even sure Minnesota will beat Wisconsin to make it to the Big Ten Championship game.

They've had success running that offense for years, but not against elite teams. Even with a good QB, they struggle in big games. They had Russell Wilson in 2011 and still lost 3 games.
That offense is what Bielema tried to bring to Arkansas and that didn't turn out well at all.

re: LSU's QB may have the biggest fan base of any college QB this season

Did you know that Tom Brady struggled to hold on to the starting job at Michigan his senior year?
Ohio St. fan here. It's true, no one knows at this point. However, there are several positive signs.
My son played high school football against Burrow and he's a much better athlete than people give him credit for. He didn't enroll early at Ohio St. because he was the best player on their high school basketball team and they made a long run in the high school tournament in Ohio. He isn't going to run the ball like Barrett or Braxton Miller did at OSU, but he's far from a statue. I expect him to be elusive in the pocket, able to extend plays and occasionally turn a broken play into a first down with his legs. I also expect him to be able to run the read option well enough to keep the defense honest.
Although his arm talent isn't elite like Jamarcus Russell or Haskins, that doesn't mean he has a weak arm at all. He's well above average when it comes to arm strength. His best qualities are accuracy and timing.
He didn't "lose" the race to Haskins last year. He broke his hand in pre-season and was #2 to JT Barrett at that time. Haskins took over and Meyer has said that he didn't want that battle to distract from the season when Burrow came back mid-season, so Haskins remained at #2. I believe that if Burrow hadn't broken his hand, he may have reamined at #2 all year and it may have been Burrow leading the comeback against Michigan, not Haskins and the whole story might be a lot different.
I feel like what it came down to at Ohio St. was that although it seemed to many fans that Burrow was slightly ahead in the race, Haskins performed well against Michigan last year and has a higher ceiling. The thing that I like about Burrow is that his floor isn't as low as Haskins. If they both perform their best, Haskins will be better. If they both perform their worst, Burrow will be better. If they perform in the middle, I think it will be close. There's a lot more risk for Haskins.
I think you'll like what Burrow brings to the table and I'll be rooting for LSU in most games over the next couple of years.
