Camp Location help/WMA

Posted by JRoCk14 on 1/4/17 at 11:06 pm
Went to a buddies camp this past week and enjoyed his setup. He was located in Deleplaine, AR hunting a WMA there and I started thinking after leaving that I liked his setup.

He bought a house in Deleplaine, a small town where real estate is fairly cheap and hunts a WMA that is not completely overrun due to most folks taking off to Stutgart to hunt and other popular/well known WMA's. Come to find out he's been hunting this WMA for 10-15 years and he's comfortable enough to even leave his grill in his spots haha.

I was wondering if anyone knows of any lesser known WMA's in Kansas, Missouri or Mississippi? And maybe a name of a small town around them?

Just something I'm interested in. I'd rather buy a small camp and hunt a WMA if its not overrun than lease out land each year.

Thanks for any info in advance

Lease Search tips

Posted by JRoCk14 on 4/7/16 at 1:37 am
Looking to lease some land in either Mississippi or Louisiana and even Arkansas if it's a duck lease. Do y'all know of any forumns or classifieds that are good for this type of search? I check la sportsman classifieds daily but nothing ever seems to come up thats decent. Looking for anything over 200 acres for deer or a duck lease if somethings available. As most would, I'd rather lease something out than join a club so trying to start the search early. Thanks guys!

Climber Recommendation

Posted by JRoCk14 on 10/4/15 at 7:51 pm
New to bow hunting and climbers. Any recommendations on a good climber? Also, any advice on using climbers for bow hunting? Thanks for all info and help
I bought one off of ebay a month or so ago and the battery didn't last worth a plug. It was dead pretty quick which surprised me because I bought one off of there for my 5 and that one lasted up to 6-8 hours.

GoPro Mic Question

Posted by JRoCk14 on 1/16/15 at 12:55 pm
So I'm looking at getting the GoPro Hero 4 and a mic to do some filming for shows I am going to this year. Kind of like a documentation to post to youtube. I have been researching all night and morning about external mics and the more I read the more confused I get to which I would like. I would like to have a wireless lavalier mic that I don't have to plug directly into the camera so that I can walk around freely if someone else is filming but we don't do a ton of walking so this is not a must. I just want to make sure our voices can be heard loud and clear when we go to put the videos together. Has anyone used an external mic or many and have a recommendation? Recommendation on a camera/recorder other than the gopro for this type of filming?

Searching for a Chair

Posted by JRoCk14 on 12/23/14 at 6:33 pm
Hey guys, i'm searching for a tall blind chair. We used to own some back in the day because our box stands were taller than most. They kind of look like actor chairs but I don't know what they are called. We had some that were tall and they also turned a complete 360. Any help is greatly appreciated! I've tried googling tall deer blind chair but have had no luck.

Gun dog training

Posted by JRoCk14 on 10/6/13 at 11:10 pm
Has anyone trained their own gun dog? What all did you use as far as training aids and instructional videos? Has anyone used a dummy launcher and are they productive? I'll probably send mine off to a trainer but I wanted to try to do some of it myself and see how it goes.
depends on if it's dynasty or not. No question Hopkins if it's dynasty

all great suggestions! I appreciate the responses so far
Kevin Henry definitely best D1 prospect on Centrals team. He played well last night.

Female Lab names

Posted by JRoCk14 on 9/21/13 at 10:27 am
Need some help coming up with a female lab name. Thinking about getting a red lab. The 2 names I have right now are Reba and Laredo but I'm looking for something clever. I had a chocolate lab named Delta a few years ago and I loved that name. Any help is greatly appreciated
I agree with the throwing mechanics. I think he has great hands and great speed for a TE. Off the field issues are the biggest problem he has IMO. I can fault him for his age, that is what it is. I think he's a for sure D1 TE. I can't say that for QB until I see how he does next season. Kevin Henry - i can't say anything else besides that kid is a monster and a huge D1 prospect
Triplett is the closest. My honest opinion though is that if they kept Jake Myer at TE and showcased him next season he could start at LSU as a freshman/sophomore. He's 6'3" 210 right now with excellent hands and speed. Blocks very well also. Huge threat but they didn't utilize him as much as he would need to become a big name. Unfortunately I don't believe they have any other options at QB besides him next season so it will probably mess up his recruiting. There is a rumor that Catholic's QB Nick Cooms is transferring to Central for his senior season because he lives in Central but I don't know if there is any truth to that

He was outstanding. They had him playing a lot of safety and he shut down every single tight end we faced. Unbelievable talent and size

Yea Thomas had the return and he also had a good game rushing. From what I hear he's getting D1 offers but I don't know enough about him to know if thats true or not. Darrius had a TD for sure, it was from about 25 yds out. His combo of power and speed stuck out. Someone said it in a post earlier this week, he refuses to go down. You better bring more than one when you step to his door haha
Final score Central 31-23. Sloppy game in my opinion. Both teams made a lot of mistakes. Refs blew a few calls both ways.

Courville - 14-18 for 250+ yds. 2 of his 4 misses were with a wide receiver 20 yds from the nearest defender

Triplett - had his worst game of the season. 130 yds and no td's. Had 2 td's but both got called back on penalties

Juneau - Not sure on yds but had a 40-50 yd td run

Gales - 29 yds and a td. He was the receiver that Courville over threw on the 2 wide open misses

Jake Myer - not sure on yardage either but the kid is a playmaker. Made some huge plays when they needed them. He lays the lumber on anything that gets in his way when carrying the ball

Catholic

Coomes - 104 yds no td's

That sophomore rb had a td and looked very good. The other rb looked very good as well and I think he was the one with a kickoff return
Central up 7-0 and driving
Just got confirmation Triplett is starting and playing! Excellent for this game! Enjoy!
One thing about RS's highlight tape. Someone go watch that tape and please tell me he couldn't have done, at the bare minimum, just as good of a job as JJ did this past 3 years at QB. He had accuracy in HS and couldn't have been any worse than JJ and definitely a better scrambler
Triplett is a way better version of RS in my opinion. There would be no learning curve or transition period to WR for him. He will be almost the exact same size RS went into LSU at and he'll gain 10-15 through Mofitt. He's kind of a mixture of Trindon and RS. Has excellent hands and is very fast. Fast as trindon? no. As athletic as RS? prolly not but I don't think its very far. I could definitely see him playing slot for LSU but I could most definitely see him starting for Oregon day 1.

Triplett is a game time decision for tonight for those who were asking earlier this week. He just started running without pads on Wednesday so even if he does go I wouldn't imagine he'll be himself. With it not being a district game if I had to put my money on it he'll dress but I highly doubt he plays much if any at all. I definitely can't see them lining him up at rb this game. Maybe some snaps in the slot and maybe KR and PR. Sorry I can't be more of help with this but thats all i know.
I think it's just a sprain. How it effects him if he does play. His game is based off of speed and getting to corners first so if he has a bad wheel it could effect him. My guess is its a sprain and the boot and crutches are just a precaution. I should know more by Thursday and I will try to update this. It would be a shame if he doesn't. It will take away from how great this game could be but thats football. Central had over 400 rushing yds last week so they can still manage.

re: Catholic vs Central this Friday 9/21

Posted by JRoCk14 on 9/17/12 at 10:03 pm to
One thing with Triplett is when you watch him play the first thing you think of is "This kid is made for Oregon." Speed speed and more speed but not scared to lower his shoulder for such a small guy. Hopefully he'll be able to play this week
Gary Triplett should be a serious recruit on many big time programs board. He lacks size, if I had to guess he will be 180 lbs when by the end of his senior year and then around 190-95 when he gets into a college lifting program. He had 15 td's as a sophomore and he already has 6 through 3 games this season. He's a game changer. Someone asked Sid Edwards on the radio show last Thursday who Triplett compares to and he said in all of his years coaching Triplett is the closest to Warrick Dunn he's ever seen. This is his first year getting solid reps.

Players with D1 potential:
Central:
Gary Triplett - WR
Devon Gales - WR
Brett Courville - QB
Jake Myer - TE/RB (might not play. dislocated his elbow in season opener but dressed this past friday)
Dalton Holdman - LB
Lamonte Janeau - RB (Kid is 200lbs running a 4.5 but he's either all or nothing. You never know what you're getting out of him)
Justin Vessel - RB (Kid has all the talent in the world but rumor is he quit because of playing time)

Catholic:
Nick Coomes - QB (Can't say enough about this kid. Dead accurate. Great poise. Has a great chance)
Derrius Guice - RB (Great talent)

I am not as familiar with the Catholic players as I am with Central but I know they have to have more than 2 if they did what they did against Denham last week because that is a very good program this season. Feel free to add on if you know of anymore
Gary Triplett's video. The other was taken down because of back ground music.

Coons is a junior this season. He started playing towards the end of his sophomore season last year and is a very efficient and effective passer. Triplett was in a boot Saturday during film but says he is hopeful to be out there Friday. I'd say he's listed as questionable. Hopefully he can because he has a very promising season going right now. On pace to be in the 15-20 td range again this season
