Thanks for proving my point...you didn't need to do that, but it was very kind of you.

Just so I understand...are you really predicting 700-800 yards of total offense for LSU? You guys will probably win, but let's be a little realistic here...

I'm not sure how I can make it any clearer that I'm not arguing in favor of Mormonism because I'M NOT A BELIEVING MORMON. I'm simply pointing out that your arguments against Mormonism on the basis of Revelation are illogical nonsense. Furthermore, I'm not sure why you felt the need to bring them up given that, as far as I can tell, none of the BYU fans that stopped by seemed eager to get in a debate about religion.
Can we get back to football now please?

Maybe you missed the parts of my original post where I said "I'm no longer a practicing Mormon" and "I think most of the teachings that are specific to Mormonism are largely bunk." I don't have a dog in this fight. I consider myself a "Christian" in the sense that I consider the teachings of Jesus to be the best guide I'm aware of regarding how we should conduct ourselves and treat our fellow man. I'll admit that I have a hard time buying into some of the more dogmatic and, for lack of a better term, supernatural parts of the Bible. I just think that if you're going to argue in favor of your religion and against someone else's, it shouldn't be too much to ask that your arguments are actually logically consistent and sound.

So I'm a BYU fan, hopped on your board to get a sense of what we're up against and what you Tiger fans think about BYU - in other words, football talk. (For what it's worth, I think the LSU -12 line is about right).
And then I get on and start reading this Bible nonsense.
Despite being a BYU fan, I'm no longer a practicing Mormon - if I were heading down to Houston I'd probably hit one of you up for a beer before the game. I think most of the teachings that are specific to Mormonism are largely bunk. That being said, some of the traditional Christian arguments against Mormonism are just as idiotic.
You cite Rev. 22:18-19 as an argument against adding to or taking away from the words of the Bible (against the Book of Mormon specifically). Any idea what John (assuming he actually wrote Revelation) was referring to when he said "this book"? Here's a clue: IT'S NOT THE WHOLE DAMN BIBLE. The Bible as such didn't even exist until well after John's life, and scholars are unanimous that several books of the Bible were written well after Revelation. Not to even mention that the number of books that are in the Bible depends on which branch of Catholicism/Orthodoxy/Protestantism you believe in (ranging anywhere from 66 to 80+).
Leading off with this as my 1st post on Tiger Droppings probably makes me a bad houseguest, which I don't want to be. I just figured that when I logged on I would find a football forum rather than a Sunday School class. Y'all want to ask any questions about BYU, make any outlandish game predictions or talk smack, I'm open to just about anything. But I would prefer to stick to football when it comes to discussions about BYU.
Also, per the title to this thread, RIP LaVell. He was a good guy.
