Looks like there's some decently awake people here based on the up-down vote totals throughout this thread.

I'm not talking to my son about mechanics or telling him what to do or what not to do. I'm trying to diagnose it with help, here, and come up with a drill/techniques to help him correct it.

Based on what you're saying in your post I doubt you're not talking to him about mechanics.

Kids 8. He needs be getting all the Sandlot action he can get. Play around. Pretend to be different big leaguers. Have fun. Hit the ball.

You're going about this in a way that doesn't help him as much as you probably think.

Exactly Stranger my 7 year old hits live pitching better than my 9 year old but hell they are young. . They are kids let em play and quit worrying about travel ball status. If he is 8 and cant hit underhand pitching more than likely soccer is a better option or just lay off the drills and let him be a kid.

Could this response be a joke?

Only rational explanation I could come up with.

*Wait. I get it now. You're agreeing with my post.

There is so much inherently wrong in what you've written.

Aside from basic fundamental cues, your 8 year old shouldn't be thinking about mechanics when he swings.

Based off the things you've said I can justly assume that you've got his mind thinking of way too many things that distract from his ability to make contact and develop his natural movements, his natural swing.

There's also the chance and even likelihood that he's just not a good athlete. I'm sure that would be hard for you to accept.

Either way, your post is disturbing.

The locals preference for a shortened version is wisco.
People care about their baseball teams.

Unlike other sports were the casual fan knows more about the entire league.

This isn't rocket science - yet every year we here about world series tv ratings while paying no attention to the millions of people coming through the gates at most MLB ballparks.

Except Mizzou has been beating you in football.

And is about to own you in basketball.

You're scared.

You could have just said you're scared.

Weird response.

I see you didn't touch the RH set-up man counterpoint - I'll assume you realized you were wrong.

Under 100 pitches and in full command, it's not ridiculous that C Mart was trusted to go after the 7-8-9 in 8th.

Having Oh as the one ready to come in is the smart move because he'd be facing the heart (1-2-3) of the cubs order.

There really is no debate to be had when it comes to bringing in Oh in that spot.

The only debate that could be had is whether or not C Mart should have started the 8th. I personally would have taken him out but it's undeniable given the above info that it wasn't an outrageous decision to leave him in.

Tell that to his manager. Mike Matheny is not going to be able to figure out how to use two power lefty relievers, and w/o a reliable RH setup man, you will see things like 5 out save attempts on opening day.

Hard to respond to something lacking so much proper thought.

Oh pitching in the 8th on opening day has two important things factoring into the decision: off days bookending the game, and heart of the cubs order came to the plate in the 8th. Makes perfect sense to bring in your closer in that spot.

Siegrist is a left handed RH set-up man. He's better against righties than lefties, so your point is pointless. Not to mention the arrow is trending up for Rosie who will play a role in late innings.
You're not interested in the truth - which makes you a normal sports fan.

Every GM in baseball would take Piscotty over Zobrist in '17 as their full time RFer.

Piscotty isn't a prospect. He's a major leaguer who just signed a 6 year extension.

The Cardinals need Rosenthal to be good, b/c their RH setup is shaky otherwise. The alternative is to move Cecil to closer and Oh to RH setup. The big problem is their manager has no flipping clue what he is doing.

You're exposing yourself.

To suggest moving Oh out of closer is laughable.

Seigrist isn't a lefty specialist. He's arguably more effective vs right handed hitters.

A lot of poorly angled arguments in this thread while I've been away.

The Cardinals rotation is superior to the cubs.

Any past stats on Carlos Martinez are irrelevant. He's pitching fully ripened for the first time in his career.

Wacha is an elite arm who's struggled with a rare shoulder condition that seems to be fixed - we will see - if not, there's really great options in our system and we have the parts to get an established arm.

Lynn has been solid his entire career. An all-star. And now he's healthy enough to throw secondary pitches and in a contract year. Look out.

Wainwright won't be the ace he was but he will have an improved year. He finished '16 far better than he started. He's now fully recovered from achilles injury. Motivated to be solid. He will be.

Leake is massively underrated in all of these projections. His father fell off a roof and became paralyzed before last season, he also got the short-end too many times from his defense. He's two tiers ahead of the cubs fifth starter. He'll be steady-eddy every fifth day with great stuff.

The Cardinals bullpen is better. Any baseball person would tell you this. Our franchise single-season career saves leader isn't even our closer, and he may not even be our 8th inning guy. We'll have three legit lefties when Lyons gets back. We are loaded in the pen and have great options to bring up from Memphis when needed.

cubs have a legendary 1-2-3 in their lineup. The Cardinals top of the order isn't as special but it may end up being nearly as functional and after that 1-2-3 the lineups get very comparable if not in favor of the Cardinals depending on how certain players grow.

The truth here is that these two teams are not 10+ games apart on paper.

You don't have to believe it now. You will see.

The Cubs are deeper and better than the Cardinals across the board...but not by a whole lot

That is quantifiably inaccurate about the rotations and bullpen.
He was on the ropes all night, far from a gem.

He also clearly lost his emotions and became upset with his catcher -- the loss of Ross will become a story as the season unfolds.

Team North America was the best under 23(?) in Canada and the US, which is very different than being 'best of the rest'. It made a lot of sense to add this team.
Another thing we need to confront as a result of the money-driven reality we live in.

Fake news.

Great example of how a false narrative can take over the conscious of people with casual interest.
Hendricks is real. I'd buy his stock.

I'd also expect an addition to your rotation at some point.

I see a fight. Not a landslide, which is the consensus prediction.
