I get why LSU fans would question Kansas, but KU has a lot to offer.
1. KU has been ranked in the top 10 most scenic campuses
2. On the outskirts of the KC metro (~2.1 million in population)
3. Newer football training facility and recently remodeled
4. New football dorms coming next fall
5. $300 million football stadium renovation being planned
6. Several Lousiana players already on the roster including some highly rated ones like Daylon Charlot and Mike Lee.
KU typically has some flashes in football being ranked in the top 10 both '96 & 2007. The '07 team was littered with NFL players including 2 that are the top 2 rated corners in the NFL.
While the record doesn't show it, football is starting to turn. Beaty inherited such a colossal mess from Weis that he's finally digging out of it. When he showed up, he only had 35 returning scholarship players (before the incoming recruiting class showed up) and really no high level players to build around. To 2 years later, KU has some all league players on defense. On offense, KU took TCU's OC (got him over Auburn), has 2 good WRs plus adding Charlot. There's a 4 star RB coming in plus the #1 juco RB that came to KU over Auburn. A new juco QB came in that started for Mike Leach as a freshman. Then there's the 5 star OT transfer from Bama plus the rest of the line returns. If KU can start to score a little more, wins will follow.
We know KU isn't LSU or any other football power, but there's a lot to work with at KU (which is one reason hoops has been so successful) and an opportunity to play early. With every rebuild, someone has to take a chance just like Talib, Harris, Meier, Briscoe, etc. did. Football is a popular sport and when KU wins, the games sellout.
Anyway, I hope to make it down for a LSU game sometime (I love traveling for football and have hit 11 or 12 colleges so far). A friend of mine at KU went to LSU for undergrad and spoke highly of his experience at LSU. While I know everyone has their top spots to watch a college game, I've had several tell me LSU is the best atmosphere for a game. Good luck next season and stick it to Mizzou every change you get.
