re: FBD, international stout day

Any of the MS Mavens going to the Lucky Town grand opening events this weekend?
I though it was really good, much better than I'd expect from Abita. I just ran across it and didn't really know much about it. I've got a new stainless steel growler to break in, and it's going to be filled with that or Oak Aged Fireant tomorrow.

I figured someone in this thread could shed some light on it. I think Jackson only got 2 kegs of it.

Whatcha looking for? Tas IPA?

And, what is this Biere de Mars aged in Pappy van Winkle barrels that's been released by Abita?

2nd BD was the rest of the bomber.
3rd BD is Crooked Letter Mariposa.

No Pics because iOS is updating.

BTW, for those interested, McDade's on Fortification gets things before Northside many times because the manager is a hop head.

If you're looking for Barrel Aged Hipster Breakfast, try both stores. I was told that Jackson got 9 cases, but there were still some in the warehouse because the truck loaders didn't want to go "all the way" to the keg cooler to get them.

Going out of town for a wedding. They asked for me to give them a list for the tasting, and I suggested that they contact the MS breweries to see if there were any special kegs hitting the market, then I had to go out of town, and couldn't help anymore.

I did tell them that it was in their best interest to get a couple of cases of So Pro Barrel Aged Hipster Breakfast, and crack one to taste as well. Hell, I tried to get a GITM to take it up there so they could try it, but was unsuccessful.

Now that they have figured out the regs about sampling beer without an on premise license, they will do more in the future, and I will be there then.

FBD:

They had 3 at Humidor on Lake Harbor when I left with this one.

McDade's didn't have any yet, but they're trying.

I don't know. It hit stores up here on Tuesday I was told.

I haven't been paying that closely attention to So Pro because all their Devils Harvest up here is out of date and the dist. won't take it off the shelves, so I was pleasantly surprised when I saw it.

FBD after mowing the yard.

Definitely not a lawnmower beer.

Thanks do all of the suggestions. This is what the station looked like this morning. This is much better than it was two weeks ago.

Did you find the One Claws in TX, or did you carry them with you?

I think so. They've changed about half the taps already, should have the other changed Tuesday. I've asked for a pic of the new taps when it's done. I can't remember what they went with off the top of my head, but they read the thread from Sat. before placing the order.

FBD will be later in Marksville. Any chance I can find anything over there that's any good?
True.

I haven't looked in a while, but I think I remember some trails from Paradise that I thought would get us to snow and were rated easy or intermediate by the NPS.

Turns out, it didn't matter. Paradise looked like this when we got there.

This was the best pic I got because every time I tried to get one of the mountain, the clouds rolled by.

We went on June 1st up to Paradise (the highest point you can drive to, 5400') and there was still 135" of snow on the ground.

The NPS site says that during August that area is supposed to be grassy meadows. Depending on how far you are willing to hike I would bet you could find some snow or ice.

I'm not sure how far the Muir snowfield is from paradise, but it didn't look too terribly difficult from the maps.

I would definitely go again, and I'm not an outdoors person.
No updates yet, but I sent this thread to the manager and he said it was very helpful.

I should know more by Friday, but in the meantime, if anyone who missed this Saturday has any other advice, I'm sure it would be appreciated.

It really is a shame we didn't get it in time for MS Craft Beer Week.
I've known for a while, and I've been trying to encourage the manager to take more control over the situation. The problem is that he needs about 8 taps that get maven business and about 4 taps that the rest of the public will buy.
True, but that's jut 3 taps. What I'm looking for is what will get you and the rest of the FBD mavens that pass through Jackson in on a regular basis. I get the feeling that some think that this growler station is subpar at best, but it has so much potential. WF only has 4 taps, but is doing more business.
The testify isn't moving, I love it, but it's just sitting, not to mention that you lose half a pint when pouring a growler.

During summer months, i think the Heffy would be preferable, and they've had some requests for it. Mystery Romp from Oct-Mar.

The Flair Incident is the best thing that LuckyTown makes, the Pub Ale may be more of a gateway beer and is their latest offering.

You're a fan of Sorority Blonde? We haven't seen any Oxford tap handles, and Mason always brings bottles to events when everyone else bring kegs. We're thinking Luckytown blonde instead of Oxford. If Oxford is available on draft, they would be the first choice.
