re: If Coach Orgeron....

No we keep DA. Ensminger would go back to TE coach. He is comfortable there and again, doesn't want to be OC after this year.

I had a similar post last week.
The consensus is that if CEO is our HC after this year: we will get another OC because Ensminger does not want to be OC due to his age and doesn't want to have a high pressure job. My vote for OC is Major Applewhite. He is a BR native, was a QB at Catholic High, QB at Texas where he set multiple records until Colt McCoy enrolled. Since then he has been an OC at Texas for Mack Brown and is now the OC/QB Coach under Tom Herman at UH. I hope this helps.

Saturday Down South just reported he'll be making an unofficial visit Saturday night for Bama/LSU game. He's the No. 7 overall prospect for 2017 and a Bama commit.

You have no clue of what a lateral move is then.
You may be right, but if you were offered HC at Purdue or someone in that realm/caliber or take an OC job at LSU, what would you pick?
I guess I'm different. I'd rather have wins and rings as LSU's OC than a little more money and full control over a .500 team; give or take a win.

I agree to an extent. I started this to ease the minds of his critics. I for one would be very open to him being our next HC.

He's never been an OC...why start after he's had a HC gig and generating buzz?
I'm mostly trying to ease the minds of his critics. IMO though, being an HC at a mid-major and being an OC at a top 10 program in the country is a lateral move rather than a demotion.
Just another LSU coaching staff scenario.

A lot of threads I've read are high on P.J Fleck, but some of us are not convinced he can make the huge jump from Western Michigan to LSU. I agree to that to an extent. However, what if we hired him as an offensive coordinator before handing him the reigns of the program? I know this all would come down to if the new head coach or coach O wanting him for that position, but having him as an OC first would give us an idea of if he is capable of handling this type of program. Same idea goes towards the likes of Major Applewhite, and any other coach that is on our list. I realize Herman would never demote himself to be an OC again, I'm referring to the coaches on our list that are HC at mid-major schools like Fleck. :geauxtigers:

No, have not you read the other hundred threads on this? We are doomed
Obviously I've missed them. I think we'll have to use TE's as blockers a lot during the game just to give us a chance to move the ball.
Can our O-line match up?
Posted by LSUAlum2014 on 11/1/16 at 1:52 pm
I think we all can agree that the team that controls the LOS wins the game. Will the O-line play better than it did in Tuscaloosa last year? I remember there being injuries on the line last year and Moore the FB was also hurt. I've heard our O-line is healthy going into this game, can it hold up? :geauxtigers:

When I was a student, parking on Bama game day filled up by 8. Better try to get there by 7.

I posted something similar to this earlier today. If O stays on, my hopes would be Ens. goes back to TE coach and we land Major Applewhite at OC/Qb coach. Everyone else stays. :geauxtigers:

Major Applewhite is making $301K/year at UH. I'm sure he'd jump at the chance to get the $1.2M-$1.5M Cam was getting. I'd be all for that hire, if Coach O or his replacement, lets Major do his job and not under mind him.

Lane Kiffin is an interesting candidate. Why would someone leave Alabama and have to coach against Alabama every year? Who would be crazy enough and have that much arrogance to do such a thing? Lane Kiffin is definitely that type of person. I'm sure he'd love to coach against Nick and try to beat him. I don't really care who gets the job, as long as they do a good job, get us the QB's we need, and help this team win. Who ever that coach is, that's who I want, that goes for HC and OC/QB.

I don't think there's anything wrong with Ensminger. I honestly don't know much about him other than he has a lot of experience, which is obviously a good thing. My thing is, can he recruit and develop at the QB position. I just know Major Applewhite has done great things everywhere he has been. Ward Jr. was a WR and he was a Heisman candidate until UH's recent losses. Thanks for the feed back guys.
Coach O as HC but who would be OC?
Posted by LSUAlum2014 on 10/28/16 at 7:32 am
Hypothetically speaking, lets say Herman does not go to LSU and we retain Coach O. Who will be a good candidate for OC/QB coach? Do we keep Ensminger or get someone else? The only candidate that comes to my mind is Major Applewhite, a Baton Rouge native, which is currently Herman's OC/QB coach, formally held the same position at UT under Mack Brown. Do any of you know any other potential candidates to this coaching position?
