He is a good offensive mind, but not at the prices being floated around.

That’s no excuse. When y’all did that Kyle Field remodel, y’all absolutely knew that Texas would “follow a&m into the SEC” eventually.

I’ve read a lot of dumb shite on this board, but this may take the win. You are melting because we didn’t take into account your mascot when remodeling the stadium when we weren’t even playing at the the time?
It’s not just Ole Miss fans. I question how serious he is about a championship. He put that team together, convinced those guys to play by selling them on getting to the playoffs, then appears to be leaving. That is not exactly earning people’s trust. Even if he stayed, I think the psychological damage he has done to his team will result in an early exit if they make it all (and they should).
quote:

They say it isn't because he's leaving, it's because of "how" he's going about it.

I will cede that his family going to Gainesville and Baton Rouge was obviously immature behavior, however plenty of Rebels were fine with it when they thought he was just trolling.

Other than that, the drama has been caused by the media and "message board insiders".

The timeline is what it is, Florida and LSU aren't going to wait around so he has to leave after the final regular season game, as pretty much all coaches who are changing jobs do.

So are they really just pissed that he's leaving and there's nothing he can do to make this better, other than to stay?

I’m not from Ole Miss and I can answer that.

You finally have a playoff team, and it turns out the coach is not a team player. While their opportunity likely won’t be squandered, their ability to put their best foot forward is because it’s not all about championships with Kiffin. He would rather use all the hard work of his team as a stepping stone for himself instead of finishing the job he is paid handsomely to perform. All he can think about is what is best for him - not for the team he built himself.

And whoever lands him is going to have to find this out the hard way.

#32 Texas A&M - 1.50

Can you please explain how A&M is expected to lose 1.5 games with one game left? Something seems off here.
quote:

It’s bound to happen.

In general I think all athletes and coaches are over paid but I will still watch it so I’m part of the problem also. Winning cures all.

You don’t have to wait. I’ve got no dog in this fight, and I don’t think he is worth it. When you compare the drama he brings against his accomplishments, you are left with a bunch of drama. What exactly has he done to make you believe he is the second coming of Saban? Is he better than Kirby Smart or Ryan Day?

What is humorous is this is exactly what your governor said wouldn’t happen. Why not let Woodward do the negotiating if you are just throwing the house at Kiffin. None of this makes sense, and a lot of money is getting flushed down the toilet.

But it’s not my money. Do what you like, but it seems like an expensive short term fix vs a long term solution.

Hes not leaving Ole Miss cause he was bored. He left because LSU is a better oppurtunity

He is a coach that put himself in the playoffs at Ole Miss while LSU is not. Is that really a better opportunity?

The other issue I struggle with is recruiting. Louisiana is a hotbed for recruiting and should be a natural advantage, but will this be wasted by Lane. He has spoken openly about pursuing the portal over recruiting. He is also not known as a top end recruiter, so I’m not sure how that would play out assuming he heads to LSU.
quote:

Also, his reputation isn't going to be "ruined" to anyone other than Ole Miss fans and a few Karens. If he starts winning, all will be forgiven, no matter where he ends up. And honestly, he's just upholding his reputation at this point.

You realize he has dumped or gotten dumped by whoever he gets involved with right? His reputation is pretty proven at this point. Why did he get fired from two of his previous jobs? Why do you think you won’t be next?

The problem with Lane isn’t his ability to coach offense. It’s that he always puts himself first (like he is doing now). He is like the boyfriend that says he won’t cheat anymore, but everyone knows he will. At this point, Lane loves the chase more than marriage. The question is what is the next idea he gets in his head that he needs to chase? Alabama or the NFL?

It’s not championships he is chasing because I would say he has psychologically destroyed his team for the playoffs whether he stays or goes at this point. He has a chance this year, but he can’t help but shite all over himself along with the Ole Miss football program. You think he won’t do it to you, but it’s just in his nature.

If I was Alabama, I would call him every year in late November inquiring into his availability, and let Lane self implode. That is how petty Lane Kiffin is.

It’s a free country. Hire who you like, but at least go into this with you eyes wide open.
quote:

No, this is their Super Bowl. Texas is always kicking dust in their face. They own the all-time series in football, won the first meeting as SEC teams, and took their baseball coach.

None of those emotional arguments matter.

All this chatter is just that. Texas is much improved and it should be a good game come Friday. Let’s see what happens and we will all deal with it accordingly.
quote:

Of course, I think they try to beat Texas, but it won't hurt that bad if they lose

You don’t think it will hurt. No telling what the committee would do. They could leave them in the top 4 and still get a bye or they could drop them anywhere in the bracket. It could be beneficial to lose, but nobody really knows because we could also land in a harder branch of the bracket.

At the end of the day, you have to play your matchups regardless of the seed
quote:

Avoiding the SEC championship game and potential injuries that might come from it… See Georgia from last year.

Logically speaking, maybe. You would have to see the bracket and determine the best path. If you can land the G5 at home, that should be less wear and tear on your team instead of a top tier SEC opponent, but football doesn’t work that way. You play the games in front of you. You don’t take a chance on something that may not happen.

Can you imagine Saban saying, “hey - let’s just lose this game and we will be better off”. It’s not happening, unless you are in bed with the mafia. That is the only way you win by losing, and anybody that does that, throw them in jail.

Play the games, and let the chips fall where they may.

So what does aggy want more, beating the Longhorns in Austin in what is an otherwise meaningless game for them, or preserve players to try and grab their first ever SEC title and then try for a long playoff run?

You drama queen much?

Y’all are definitely improving. I look forward to a good game.

SEC been doing it for years.

It's a fuggin joke to be playing E. Illinois today and bama should be called out for it.

You can play them at the beginning and make it appear you are better than you are or you can strategically use it to heal up later in the season. I would personally prefer the latter. It’s not like other conferences can’t do it. They just choose not to.

Have Ole Miss and Florida Fans Entered the Acceptance Stage?

Let’s just assume Lane comes to LSU.

This is the same guy who:
- Was fired by the Raiders for cause
- Left Tennessee after 1 year
- left on the tarmac by USC
- was fired by Saban before the playoffs because he was a distraction
- who has Ole Miss in the playoffs and instead of focusing on the playoffs, he is creating a sideshow circus ensuring he will screw this up whether he stays or goes.

And that is just off the top of my head.

Is this really what you want in charge of your organization although he is a good OC? Maybe you are the one that should be in the acceptance stage?

That Spurrier pic looks like a villain from the old Batman tv show.

How can you possibly not know about Hatin’ arse Spurrier?

That he can’t stay even if he wants to now. I think he’s truly destroyed his relationship with OM

What is bizarre to me is that whoever wins the Kiffin sweepstakes thinks this won’t happen to them. The dude is a narcissist, and I fully expect it to continue.

Assuming Lane sticks to his script, he will be chasing the portal and doing a less than average job at recruiting, so when he does leave, that team is going to be in trouble unless they hire another portal slayer.

He has been to the playoffs, worked a miracle at Vandy,

and LSU blinded in their pursuit of Lane ?

I think you are asking the wrong question. Why didn’t Franklin want to coach in the SEC?

He can get away with coaching in The Big 10 or the ACC, but I don’t think he would have done well if he came back (especially with a 9 game slate). He would have elevated the team in question, but he still fails to beat the big boys. He needs to get the training wheels back on his bike.
