Another alternative - try flying into Minneapolis and staying in Wausau or Stevens Point.

I was in that number last night. Wrigleyville was flooded with purple & gold. It was funny watching the bartenders try to figure it out why all the LSU fans. I must have been asked 1,000 times on Michigan Ave & Wrigley "why all the LSU fans?"
Total takeover.

"We're in town for the Tiger game."
"Oh, LSU's playing at Soldier Field, that's really cool, well good -"
"Nope. Lambeau."
Yup, I'm an idiot and edited it.
You can't buy anything at liquor stores after 9. Latest last call will be around 1:30, with the lights coming on & the shotgun reloading at 2 AM at the latest.

Let me guess no Abita up there?

Just saw 3 different 6 packs of it at a Madison grocery store, including Purple Haze and a strawberry one.

What about west coast IPAs? Any good ones?

New Glarus's Scream IIPA is a great one and should be easy to find.

Get into Madison tomorrow then driving to Appleton. Staying at the Radisson downtown, lots to do near there.

You'll most likely be driving on 26 through Rosendale. It's known for being a speed trap, so watch yourself.

See if the free game day buses work for you. The last post-game ones leave at 8:30.

Wisconsin overall is pretty relaxed about drinking laws. Bars can actually server someone 18+ if they're parent is there with no issues, but that's establishment-dependent. . If the first place you go to doesn't allow someone underaged to buy cheese curds and soda, that was bad luck. Just let someone else take your business. Past 9 PM getting into a new place might be a different story, but they likely wouldn't kick someone out that's already there.

They lost 35-17 in their opener last season.. would that be a blow out?

That was a blowout (it was 35-10 when Saban called off the attack), as was another game to a team that went on to win the national championship. Other than those games, Wisconsin hasn't lost by more than 20 since 2008.
So if you end up winning by over 3 touchdowns on a neutral field against Wisconsin, congratulations on your national championship.
Wisconsin players will have an advantage having repped against this defensive style for a few years now, so the players can recognize some things easier.
LSU coaches will have better player scouting reports from Aranda, but Chryst has been calling offenses for so long at Wisconsin, Pitt, and now Wisconsin there might not be much Aranda could bring over schematic-wise that LSU didn't know.

The big plus in LSU's favor is that any Tiger corner could probably have started (on a pure talent basis) over anybody Wisconsin's had at that spot in the last 3 years. The ability to use corners as weapons, comfortably relying on single coverage against a mediocre receiving corp and possibly blitzing is the big key on that side of the ball. If LSU can sit 8 in the box regularly, Wisconsin won't move the ball.
Here's hoping they're served Bloody Mary's overrun with garnishes on set.

It doesn't look like LSU will have many fans in the end zones, so any LSU player doing the Lambeau Leap will be jumping into Wisconsin fans.

I think LSU students and band are the first rows in the north end zone, Wisconsin's the entire south end zone.

I'd imagine there will be plenty of post-game pictures of the winning team leaping into the stands.

Check out the 5th quarter. Fun stuff win or lose. Unique to cfb.

Oh man, I hope LSU's band sticks around for that too. It'd be great to get a 400 piece band for Wisconsin's mainstays, with some Tiger hits mixed in.

My friend who brought here (doubt he is the first person to ever do this though) calls it the Foamosa. Orange juice and Miller High Life (The champagne of beers). At first it sounded gross but if you get the combination right it's actually delicious.

Try adding a bit of amaretto too, it's called a Wisconsin Lunchbox then. Since the measurements are pretty forgiving, you can do pitchers of them nicely.

re: RV parking at Lambeau

Posted by CocoThePapaya on 8/10/16 at 11:05 am to
I haven't heard anything about a team-specific lot for any type of parking, and that includes from the Badger ticket office. For finding a place to put an RV, here's the GB tourism link. Green Bay's Craigslist might be another option.
Lambeau Field itself is near the top of bucket-list destination for sports fans, in the same way that Wrigley, Fenway, or Madison Square Garden are. It's more than just going to see a game, it's a pilgrimage of sorts, even if you're not a fan of either team playing. (But if you are oh baby!) More importantly, it's the only NFL stadium that could pass for a colllegiate atmosphere - owned by the fans, surrounded by bars, houses, and open parking lots instead of prime real estate, and bench seating in a bowl that have views better than the suites. Throw in the two founding members of the longest-running college conferences that are seperated-at-birth drinkin' buddies, and it'll be a hell of a time.

And all that's before the coin toss!

re: Driving to Green Bay

11 of us drove from Madison to the Alabama game in Dallas last year, which is almost the same distance. We had enough planned out (stopping in Kansas City for BBQ, checking out the Sooner's stadium) that it ended up being pretty awesome. The highlight was putting a walkie talkie in each van to play 20 Questions, vehicle to vehicle. Of course, that's multiple drivers, all around 30 years old with no kids - your experience may be different.
I couldn't imagine doing that drive in one day, though.
