I will be there next week for vacation. Any recommendations for hikes, walks, or restaurants? We will be halibut fishing out of Homer.

re: Duck Hunting in NE, and SE Arkansas,

I guess it’s the nets that DU has trapping all of the birds, right?
Perhaps it has to due with the fact that several rice farms have been converted to sugar cane in south Louisiana. Also, land loss issues. Our coastal marsh habitat is being washed away. So between the conversion of rice farms and the loss of land, you have overall less habitat. Ducks Unlimited has done more conservation work in the state of Louisiana alone than most realize. The organization invested $21 million in LA just last year.
Farming practices have changed in the dakotas. With ethanol bills, more corn has been planted across the landscape.
The potholes of the breeding ground have been in a drought. This also affects the bird population.
And as stated, temperatures. Ducks aren’t going to expend any more energy than they have to. If they have corn in an unfrozen pond, they aren’t leaving. It’s that simple.

Similar but this time according to Reddit and the thousands of others that received this same email today, they used my full name, street address, phone number, and street view of my home. It’s a little unsettling.
Pegasus spyware email

Anyone receive a weird spam looking email on gmail accounts that claim to have Pegasus spyware installed on your phone and demanding $2k in bitcoin? They listed my contact info, a photo of my house street view, and the demand.

Would you recommend peptides to a female? My wife has been on Zepbound for 6 weeks and has lost 15 pounds- now on the 5mg and doctor is keeping her there. Of course, sagging skin is an issue. What would you recommended?

How did you choose your activity level in mfp? I work at a desk majority of the day, but am exercising (HIIT, lifting, cardio) 3-4 times a week.
Macro counting

Any of you do it? I have about 40 pounds to lose. Would like to try macro counting. Not sure where to get started and every macro calculator gives me different calculations.

Any suggestions for electronic ear buds for hunting? Provides protection to hearing yet can still hear conversations in the blind.
Snapper recipes

Anyone have a recommendation for a good snapper recipe? I’m tired of eating it either grilled or with a lemon butter sauce. Looking for something a little different.

Your numbers and fact on the duck stamp are correct. 98% goes back to habitat conservation.
However, I have to disagree with the accuracy of your numbers about conservation organizations. Ducks Unlimited has a high efficiency rate. 83% of DU’s expenditures were converted directly to conservation work vital to ducks, geese, and other wetland-dependent wildlife. DU has put 86-88 cents of every dollar received into their conservation mission.
In Louisiana specifically, DU has restored 600,000 wetland acres and plans to spend 16 million dollars this year alone.
Support your conservation organizations, they make a difference.

Correct. It boils down to one thing, and that is habitat conditions. For example, Louisiana can now winter 3 million less ducks and geese than it could in the 1970s. And why is that? Loss of coastal marsh and conversion from rice to sugar cane.
Also, look at when you don’t have water- for example, TN and AR for majority of this past season- it lead to South LA having one of the most productive duck seasons in the past few years.
You also have to take into consideration the conditions in the breeding grounds. Where our ducks are bred, has been in a drought for quite a few seasons.
Something to note- every single bird species across the globe is in decline right now. However, waterfowl populations are up due to conservation organizations. Every single conservationist should be purchasing a duck stamp. It helps habitat and rebuilding the population overall. All you have to do is look to the overall waterfowl population increasing while songbirds and such are decreasing. LINK
