Hi LSUFootball... You have a virus/trojan . I forget the exact name of the one but have seen it in the past.. Go download yourself a copy of Malwarebytes and Sophos antivirus. Do the updates on Malwarebytes then reboot to safe mode and scan.

Hi. What program are you using to backup your data? Is this a server, personal PC? Where are you backing it up to?

HubbaBubb, I am 45 mins away from Baton Rouge and New Orleans. I am interested in cyber security and surveillance. Environment doesn't matter, I would do federal, local, or private. I'm not afraid to work my way up or pay for my own certs. I just want to find the opportunity. I have difficulty finding the opportunities. I look on Dice, LinkedIn, etc. but can't seem to find anything. Any suggestions of some sites? thanks.

tgrgd00, If you are looking for a change and someone in this thread can help you...it is fine with me. Do you like developing for healthcare? I may know of an opportunity with the Atlanta division of my company. Might be a remote opportunity as well.

Hi DoubleDown, Thanks. I don't really enjoy development much. My areas are security, IT governance, SME, networking, etc. Perhaps I could email you a resume?

Hi Marco, Thank you for replying. I have considered it and actually have a plan for a nitch that I think would be good. I just don't know how to get it off the ground. Have you started/run your own business? I would welcome any tips.
Advice &/or Job Opportunities Appreciated, please.

Hello,
I would appreciate any advice and/or any job opportunities that someone may know of, please.
I have worked in the field of Computer Science for roughly 20 years specializing in IT healthcare technologies ranging from system and network design, implementation, and management, security, IT governance, project management, SME, programming, etc. (I am usually the “go to” person for everything). In addition to my IT work, I have taught wide range of Computer Science courses, at the collegiate level, going on 10 years now. I am a very humble and thankful person regarding my career and always share my knowledge with my team as well as seek the opportunity to learn something new from the team as well. I have a MS in Computer Science and a few years of PhD work. (Had to stop the program b/c I could no longer afford the tuition).
Currently, I work for an IT department of a global company and, sadly, am in a rather toxic work environment (new boss bullies me (he came on 8 months after me), does not have an IT background or understand that not everything in IT has a quick resolution, expects me to work late most nights to “get more work done”). Just not a healthy environment for me.
I have been there for roughly two years. When I was approached about the job, the previous IT director and two system engineers walked out the door in the same week leaving the department and company in a bad position. The company needed someone to come in, figure out what they had, document the systems, get them back on their feet, etc. Roughly, two years later I have gotten the department back on their feet, discovered/documented/secured the network and systems, repaired severely damaged vendor relationships, helped in rebalancing the IT department, and reduced 3rd party vendor dependence to save roughly $40K per month (yes, per month). I am pleased I could contribute to the organization.
I have always enjoyed and gravitated toward IT security and am looking to transition into this area working for law enforcement or private industry. I would like an opportunity in consulting as I am looking for something more than a “9-5” job routine. I would like more autonomy in my day and the opportunity to work remotely. While I am flexible, I do not want to be a “road warrior”. I am willing to do some travel as needed depending on the position.
Thanks for reading and offering any input.
