Head over the bridge and go to Hunt's. Damn good oysters and the seafood platter is legit- wait times can get pretty long in the tourist months, but worth it IMO.

5.) Are there any rooftop or hotel bars at the top of the building that overlook the city? I'd love to have a sazerac while I watch the sunset along the French Quarter/Mississippi River/Superdome/etc.

The view from The Pontchartrain Hotel rooftop is the best in the city.

Orvieto is a cool hilltop town about an hour and a half away. Beautiful medieval town - have to take a funicular to get to the old town on top of the hill. Tenuta Le Velette is a fantastic winery just a few minutes away.
Went to Ammazza on Edgewood the other night. It's every bit as good as Antico. Decent craft beer selection too.
For brews, Wicked Weed is a must. I'd also check out Burial and Thirsty Monk. Desoto Lounge is a cool dive in West Asheville - food's real good, people watching's top notch. As for hiking, the waterfalls in the area are pretty neat.

The Pilot House in Key Largo. Great atmosphere.
Istanbul is pretty incredible. It comes across as a sort of madhouse if you’ve never been before, and it wasn’t until I read a book by a Turkish author that made me see sort of the method to the madness. It’s "A Strangeness in my Mind" by Orhan Pamuk. The story itself makes it worthwhile, but its all the better for how it sheds a light on how the people and the city function. Definitely worth reading if you have the time.
