fightin tigers picture shows the motor and pump. I think what you're getting at is why didn't they just change the motors to 60 hz motors. Going from 25 hz to 60 hz would not be "plug and play". All ancillary equipment would likely need to be replaced as well. 25 hz electrical equipment would definitely need to be replaced. The 25 hz grid would have needed to be upgraded to a 60 hz grid or they would have to use the public grid...which would have required upgrades to the public grid and then the pump stations would be subject to Entergy power outages. Lose power, no pumping. Don't think the pumps were designed to operate at higher frequencies so not sure what types of modifications would have been needed there. I expect that there were physical limitations as well. Anyway, not as simple as just replacing the motors.

The current system includes non-public power generation, power distribution, motors and pumps, The unreliable component of the system has been power generation. Hopefully the new power complex (once functioning properly) will provide for a more reliable system.
The pumps themselves (Wood Screw Pumps) have been operational for over 100 years and have been very reliable. Its providing the required 25 hz power that has been the issue. According to the article in the OP, a $300M power complex was completed earlier this year that has 3 frequency changers, each capable of providing half of the required power for the 25 hz system...and all three weren't working "for reasons that were not clear". Maybe this event was a blessing in disguise because it will allow them to work out the kinks with the new power complex before the next major event.

mchias, that's a lot of good information but as fightin tigers mentioned, S&WB have some old pumps that actually run on 25 hz power. They have a dedicated 25 hz power grid that runs from their power complex to older pump stations throughout the city. They have/had five 25 hz generators but parts for those are not available so not sure how many are actually operational. Because the old generators are becoming less and less reliable, they've had to build frequency changers to convert standard 60 hz to be used on the 25 hz grid.
They convert the 60 hz power to 24 hz using a motor/alternator machine that has a 10 pole motor powering a 4 pole alternator (720 RPM).

Thought that you and THRILLHO might find that interesting.
Had during covid lockdown, probably from doing dips without warming up.
Got x-ray and MRI to make sure no bigger problem existed. Got one subacromial corticosteroid steroid injection which definitely help extend movement. Refused to drive 30 minutes each way to get PT while wearing a mask so just stretched it every time I walked through a door frame. In my experience, if you know that nothing else is compromised/damaged, just need to continually stretch it out past where it becomes really painful until you get to full range of motion. Took about 4 months to get to 95% range…probably a year before I stopped thinking about it.
I didn’t mean “recommended” by the doctors that you’ve had conversations with. I don’t know you or them.

It is recommended by the Louisiana Department of Health on their “2023 Child/Adolescent Immunization Schedule and Daycare/School Entry Requirements” under “Recommended Schedule for Immunization, By Age”

Recommendation is at 6 months

Ldh.la.gov
“About 55% of all 5- to 17-year-olds in New Orleans have had at least one dose of the vaccine, according to city figures. Statewide the number is about 26%. That compares with 66% of 12- to 17-year-olds and 30% of 5- to 11-year-olds nationally, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.”

NPR article from 31 Jan 22

Kind of weird you don’t know what “majority” means
“ with the understanding that families would have the right to opt out.”

Hmm! Why would someone need to “opt out” if it wasn’t added as a requirement to the schedule?
“It is not on any schedule in Louisiana and hasn't been suggested for my kid”

14 Dec 2021 - Edwards overrules 13-2 vote and adds COVID Vaccine

15 Dec 2021 - Landry sues to stop mandate.

18 May 22 - Edwards agrees to remove

Remained a requirement in Orleans Parish until 1 Aug 24, once HB46 went into effect.

Still “recommended”

Limousine to/from tuscaloosa

Posted by LSUEE2000 on 8/25/15 at 10:03 am
Thinking about taking a limo from New Orleans to Tuscaloosa on Nov. 7. With 6 - 8 people for 15 hours, it would be less than $200 per person. 15 hours gives 4.5 hrs there, 6 hours for pregame and game and 4.5 hours back.

If any LSU fans are interested, please send me an email.

Nothing fun about tailgating at Ole Miss. Saw cops yelling at people to put drinks in cups and grown people hiding their alcohol under tables. Felt like I was in high school again. Too used to being treated like an adult I guess.
Tents stacked on top of each other and if you're going to a tent, you'll likely have to walk through 5 others to get there. Good thing is, if you go early, most tents will be empty. Chicken fingers and 1/4 club sandwiches show up about 2 hours before game time.
