My dog would kill the intruder first then eat the food.

Dogs arent as dumb as you think. I once had a friend who my dog loved like a member of the family, but then that friend became an enemy (drugs). He tried to break into the house by sweet talking the dog while trying to undo the door chain (he didnt know I was witnessing it) and the dog that used to be one of his best buds almost bit his hand off.

maybe so, but if it comes to that, most armed intruders would flee after shooting the dog because the noise will draw attention. Besides unless you sleep with a loaded weapon under your pillow, an armed intruder in the middle of the night already has the advantage.

We have an alarm system that came with the place but only use it if the dog are boarded and we are out of town. We also have a toddler, so no guns. Besides, the dog works in instances when the gun is useless, like when we are at work. Most property theft occurs during the day so a gun would be useless against that 5 days a week.

Sheesh no wonder kids do nothing but sit around and play fricking video games all day. When I grew up...a kid playing outside meant *MORE* time for mom and dad (to do whatever it is they do). It was a win win. Now kids dont get to play outside unless a grown up can make time for it? Thats fricked. Its not the way its supposed to work.

Once when I was about 5 or 6 I upped and rode my hot wheels about two miles down the road to see my pa paw. No one got hurt, no one got arrestted, i wasnt taken from my folks. My pa paw was surprised to see me, he called my mom to pick me up and she told me that was too far. No one flipped out.

i was allowed to wander the neighborhood alone at only 5. That was th early 80s when crime was a lot worse than it is now.
