re: What's the difference between Brandon Harris and Jameis Winston?
Posted by sectalkr on 1/21/15 at 11:00 am to JaxTiger10
answer to original question.... approx 4 or 5 inches, 40+ lbs, a heck of a lot more confidence and swagger and the nerves of steel to handle SEC pressure.
I think a better question would be, What did Coach Miles see in Harris to make him think he would be another Johnny Football more so than Jennings? and then a follow-up question, Why did Coach Miles hire his crony who has a successful track record of developing pro style QB's and make him re-invent himself at our teams expense?

Hopefully it will take a couple of years before we will need to fear their D. They need their current players to all buy in, and that is always tougher for veteran players. It should also take a couple of years to build the depth. He will be able to recruit using the success he had in filling the NFL with LSU defenders, and that is some of the cache we lose with him gone. I would not be surprised to see us lose some recruits to A&M going forward, unless they are Louisiana natives.

re: Miles' WANT to prove Chavis is not the main key

Curious indeed, do you think ever once in the past 18 months Chavis ever scratched his head about the direction of the offense? It would be interesting to know who he thought should have been given more snaps at QB. Lets just wish him well, except against us.
Just thinking of how many madhatter calls he made the past two seasons compared to the previous eight.... not enough headscratching calls this year to maintain the moniker. Maybe that is the edge we are missing. Coach Miles is fully in control of this ship, he just seems tired at the helm. :geauxtigers:
Yes the DC hire will be the biggest decision Coach Miles makes in a long time. DC Chavis has been the reason we have stayed relevant the past six years. I'm always gonna be a big fan of his, and I wish him success in the future (not so much against us).
Our biggest continued weakness will be our offense, and I dont see that changing anytime soon. I just don't think we will be able to win enough big games without being able to score more points. Sure our defense will keep us in games. Our running game will be solid, but we are not explosive enough to win the SEC. As this current bowl season has proven, the only way we will ever play for a national championship again, will be to win the SEC Title first, unless they expand the new playoff format.
Is it just me that thinks Coach Miles became obsessed with Johnny Football and the havoc it wreaked on the rest of the SEC, not including us. Ever since he is looking to follow and play catch up with that type of offense? Jennings and Harris may be the answer someday, but I do not see Coach Miles ever giving them or any future recruit a long enough leash to succeed. Why would he handcuff Coach Cameron to that type of offense when his proven success was with pro style offense. I know it was a buddy hire, but still let him chart the offensive direction. I know I'm not alone wishing Michigan would have come after Coach Miles much harder. I'm a little concerned that once you become a follower, you are no longer a leader (Michigan probably picked up on that) I just hope Coach Miles has not lost his edge. I will be happy if we can get 10 wins every year, and play in a decent bowl, but any higher expectation is just not realistic. Coach Miles and his family are a great asset to LSU, and he has gotten comfortable with that fact over the past 10 seasons. :geauxtigers:
