Robinhood charges interest for margin trading and collects interest on cash balances.

Robinhood is well-funded by notable investors such as Index Ventures, Ribbit Capital, Google Ventures, Andreessen Horowitz, Social Leverage, and many others, which affords us the freedom to focus on building a wonderful brokerage experience rather than short-term profits.

According to the FAQ page on their website.

Maybe so, but the URL in the OP's link is robinhood.com/?ref=3eRnbY

Of course, you can get there via robinhood.com without the reference.

Very investigative of you. I said right before the link that if you used the link to join the wait list it will supposedly bump me up on the wait list. I really just wanted to know if anyone was using the app yet and if it has lived up to the hype.

Got my official invite last week. Transferred 3k into the account straight from checking account to play around with. Easy set up all done within 5 mins on phone while waiting at the airport.

That's exactly what I think I'm going to do with the app once I finally get in. I don't see it replacing my ETrade account.

Next I'm going to start promoting a random penny stock for my pump and dump! Really just a coincidence guys... I'm a grad student at LSU, been reading TD since freshmen year. Just finally decided to make an account this week to procrastinate studying for finals (finished this morning).
Taking the student part seriously is hardly a requirement. They pretty much just have to acknowledge that there is also a school at LSU and just pass a few classes.
This is one of the funniest things I've read on here in awhile. :rotflmao:

I asked this question like 3 weeks ago on here and my thread got erased. WTF?

All Braxton Miller threads should be erased! We already have plenty of QB talent for everyone to complain about.
I didn't even know private citizens could do this... It sounds too good to be true though, there's no way it's so simple for 17% returns.
That team was awesome! I miss Hester! I got a picture with him on the field before the State game this year! :geauxtigers:

Robinhood app

First off: I finally decided to make an account today after being a long time reader of the money talk board and the rant.

I'm wondering what yalls thoughts are on the zero commission stock trading Robinhood app? It launched this week and has almost a 500,000 person wait list to receive an invitation to use the app. I'm not exactly close to the top of the list (400K people ahead of me) so who knows when I'll get the invitation. Has anyone made it to the top of the wait list and received an invitation yet? Is it worth the wait?

For those of you who haven't put your email on the wait list yet, supposedly if you use this link to do so you can bump me up a few spots on the list! LINK
