The men's team has been an established LSU Club Sport since the 70s.
They, along with us (the women's team), are doing all we can to build a solid foundation for LSU Athletics to add 1 or both of us to the Varsity Athletics line-up.

This summer, each team will select its first five elite-level athletes to create a UWLX All-Star Team that will compete in tournaments during the summer and fall. The four teams will draft their complete 17-player rosters before the beginning of the first season, in the spring of 2016. All operational expenses will be covered by UWLX, which hopes to model its approach on similar burgeoning women's professional team sports.

There has been growing interest within the "powers that be" at LSU over the last 3 seasons, even more so this month after having proven that winning in women's lacrosse takes place at LSU.
While there are many positives with adding women's lacrosse to the LSU Varisty Sports Family, there is a considerable amount of funding necessary to:
field a roster of 35-55 student-athletes, pay a quality coaching staff, order uniforms/apparel/equipment, & coordinate the travel to D1 opponents that are almost all located in the B1G, ACC, & along the rest of the East Coast.
The good news is that LSU already have a terrific soccer facility that can easily be turned into a dual-use sports facility that soccer & lacrosse can share for many years!
We certainly hope that one day our foundation of current successes leads to such a jump for varsity level women's lacrosse at LSU!

BALTIMORE (May 6, 2015) -- US Lacrosse annually recognizes members of the Women's

We are so proud of our 3 Juniors who earned such wonderful recognition:
Maggie Durci (Shreveport, LA/Caddo Magnet HS)
Rebecca Lambert (Kenner, LA/Mount Carmel Academy)
Reese Gassie (Leonardtown, MD/Leonardtown HS)
All 3 of these ladies will be coming back to the program for their senior year. We will be looking forward to them working to make the Academic AA list yet again along with a few more teammates!
We would also like to thank the LSU Reveille for publishing their article on our championship run:

RUKidding,
We most certainly are involved in developing the game here in LA.
In fact, tomorrow (Wednesday) a few of our players & a coach will be putting on a clinic for St. Joe's Academy-our 2nd clinic with them so far this year.
A few players have become youth area lacrosse officials to assist in the growth of the game in the southern region of the state as well.
Plans are also in the works to host an event on campus for potential future players to join LSU as well as instructional segments to teach brand new players the basic & intermediate skill sets.

Excellent question Lakebound.
The simple answer is that we are a young program trying to put together a quality product before moving up to the Div 1 level within the WCLA.
The parameters to compete in either division are up to the individual teams on where to compete. We base our currrent status on many factors. 1 of which would be our roster over the last 3 years.
Half of our current roster is made up of athletes who did not play lacrosse before college. Attempting to compete against current Division 1 programs in the WCLA would be quite the daunting task at this point in our program's early history. That said, we do compete against area Division 1 teams that we feel we can compete with such as Baylor, Houston, Tulane (currently working their way back into WCLA), & others in an effort to test ourselves.
But for us to consistently take on the Texas, Texas A&M, Alabama, Florida (club), etc. at this point would be slightly counterproductive. This is due to those programs & many among the Division 1 ranks boasting rosters full of quapity talent with at least HS experience, many often with middle school/youth level starting points. However, we are striving to improve our program, improve our roster/"recruiting", & our budget so that we may someday move up a level while putting a quality product on the field.
The good people of TD can certainly assist us in our efforts by simply spreading the word across the Nation via social media, direct networking, etc that we have a quality lacrosse program here at LSU, for both the men & the women. Young players have an opportunity to receive a wonderful education here in Baton Rouge while finding themselves a roster in which they would see immediate & substantial playing time.
We can be reached via email, facebook, twitter, & of course through the LSU UREC Dept.

We thank each & every 1 of you for your tremendous amount of support & congratulations.
After exhausting all options available to us, we had to decline our bid to the National Tournament. There was simply not enough time to coordinate with the professors of all of our players in an effort to move respective finals up to this or early next week so that we could all arrive by May 6th to VA. Additionally, many of our players are from out of state &/or live on campus; the effort to postpone their move out dates, while safely securing their belongings until we returned from the tournament was simply not possible on such a short time table for the bid acceptance/decline deadline.
That said-we have an enormous amount of accomplishments to be proud of, not only for this year, but over the last 4-5 years that we have been on campus as a club program.
We intend to keep growing & work towards earning more AQ bids in the future. We hope that the LSU Tiger Nation will continue to grow along with us & help us achieve all that we strive for!

We have until 12pm tomorrow to submit our acceptance of the AQ bid.
We played a very tough SMU team in the Championship game, who has represented our conference at the National Championship Tournament for the last 4 seasons in a row.
We are proud to announce that we won 16-11 & have earned the Conference's very 1st Division 2 AQ bid to the National Tournament.
Our Junior Midfielder Alaena Gadwill also earned the TWLL D2 Tournament MVP award for her performance against both TCU & SMU.
The WCLA National Tournament take place May 6-9 in Virginia Beach, VA. Unfortunately that is the 2nd half of finals week for us & the cost to attend the event will be at least $12,000 for the tournament entry, travel, & hotel stay.
We are doing all that we can to apply with the LSU UREC for financial assistance as well as academic assistance in working with the professors of our players to help reschedule finals so that we may go represent LSU on the national stage.
If anyone here on TD has any influence or would be willing to contact LSU on our behalf, we would certainly be grateful for the effort & your time.
No matter what happens-we thank TD for all of their support throughout this season. We hope we have made you & all of the Tiger Nation proud.
