Not sure but I do know after we won in 2011 we were denied access into any bars unless we were wiling to pay $70 cover. It was great...

The entirety of LSU's campus will be engulfed in tailgating. You don't have to look anywhere in particular. People of all denominations set up pretty generally all over campus. Fraternities typically tailgate on the parade grounds, but that's not exclusive either.
I'd recommend just walking around, you can set up shop anywhere you can find space and meet your neighbors. Once you tell them you're from out of town I'm sure they will hook you up with all you could ever want to eat. The amount of food is almost overkill, people love to give it away to impress newcomers.
Tigerland is mostly undergrads. The crowd at Fred's stretches from upper classmen to younger grad students. It's one of the few, if not the only, bar in Tigerland itself that is 21+. It would be fun for a game depending on your age. Your better bet if you're older is to check out Chimes or Walk-Ons for the game but they will likely be crowded.
