re: SEC Records thus far

Hogs get Houston Saturday, so hopefully one more win vs top 10.

If Pringle continues to pick his game up I wouldn’t be shocked to see Arkansas as a 4 seed or better. Way ahead of where they were same time last year.

10RC looks real strong. I’d say lower than a 4 seed should be disappointing for them. Will find out a lot on 1/3 when the Vols visit Bud Walton.
Silverfield did work to keep most of Arkansas’ desirable “keeps” in place.

If they pick up Curne from LSU I might actually believe the rumors that NIL money has started rolling in.
Unfortunately the boosters weren’t gonna write checks for BP. It ain’t about the best coach….its about the best bankroll.

Please. Nobody ever wants to see that on the field again.
It’s actually efficient. Most despise LSU. Most despise Kiffin.

Now it’s just easier.
Seems I’ve seen a few games against lower caliber teams (Winthrop) in Bud that had depressing crowds.

Central AR has plenty of issues with the stadiums. No doubt. Nor is there still a debate about the benefits of playing any games there, The only reason to do so is that the programs(s) see some benefit in broadening in person fan exposure. The fact that there are even less than top tier facilities available in such a location creates options. Those options can or can not be chosen.

I just see little value in discussing the facilities, how often they decide to play there, etc.

I’m just hoping they (primarily football) decide to play hard…again….somewhere.

Well…KY fans can always watch Arkansas play….a few things may seem familiar,
Literally hired the very best coach who would come here.

Yes, Golesh was the first choice. He picked Auburn. Silverfield isn’t horrible and opinions on coach rankings are just that. Opinions. Put a given coach in a given situation and you’ll get different results.

Freeze did fine at ole Miss until he ahot himself in the foot…he sucked from the get go at Auburn. Golesh likely gets tired of their crap and jumps to LSU after the inevitable happens there.
One thing for sure….we need energy and accountability. He’s got both.

A lot goes into winning games and there’s 15 other very good programs, most if not all ahead of ours right now, lately because we didn’t have the extra energy and accountability at the top. Pittman is a great guy…but energy isn’t the first word that comes to mind. I know a lot of y’all love Petrino….but dog cussing kids isn’t accountability…and I don’t think integrity jumps to the front of his description either.

He’s fresh, sounds fun, has a track record that’s hard to poke holes at….and as a guy who did things myself with a lot of the same “you might be smarter but you won’t outwork me” mentality….i like it and am pulling hard for him to succeed.

Armchair it if you want, but there might be more productive things you could do with your time than sit around and dream up possible negatives.

P.S. I’d like to see the same energy in the AD position.
Strategery exemplified

Note: I think Silverfield will be just fine.
Maybe already said here…but I think it’s a good move to delay it,

Let a little reality set in….then he can announce staff and recruits and show some actual work done.

Let LSU win the press conferences, let’s go win the NIL war.
I own a private plane. I well know the costs!

6.5m a year doesn't require a 100k annual increase. Its probably from some inane policy to give everyone a 1.5% COL increase from the HR department...at least that's my guess.
Kiffin is a good coach. There's really no question.

He's just not THAT much better than one of dozens of other coaches...most SEC teams included.

He's just like many of our politicians have become. He's an entertainer who wants to drive clicks and who craves constant attention.

He'll do fine at LSU, but he's being paid about double what he's actually worth.

Sanity needs to prevail at some point.
If you make 6.5m a year you don’t really need a COL adjustment.

Where are we getting the stats that show rankings for us being a top 20 in NIL spend?

If we really are…and won 2 games….why would anyone give more?

The Future

Posted by Rzrbackguy on 11/30/25 at 6:57 pm
Unless the NIL/Portal madness is addressed….and it likely won’t be…the future is bleak.

High school kids really get shafted. Unless you’re a 5 star you’ll be going to one of the poor farm teams that can’t keep up with the top 40 or so spenders. That top 40 might look very different than the traditional blue bloods as boosters with bucks and the stupidity to spend fortunes on 19 year old mercenaries is all it will require. Think Texas Tech, SMU, Vandy..if Harvard alums wanted it…they could have it also…thankfully they probably don’t.

Arkansas is surely headed for “farm program” status. We can’t (or won’t) afford proven and developed players, so we will still recruit HS and then watch our top 10-12 kids leave every year to the highest bidding money school. (Sartegna, Hasz, Kumas). We might pick up a few portal kids every year, but as the futility becomes more clear, the money continues to dry up.

I don’t like it. I hope it doesn’t happen, but the money gap will continue to widen.

How nice would it be….

To see the hogs come out and impose their will on the opponent?

When was the last time that happened in a P5 game?

Good thing we started that Arkansas State rivalry.
