re: Will Kevin Steele improve on his last bowl performance vs a spread offense?

TAMU gets killed by LSU every year because Sumlin is still clueless how to get through the gauntlet in the SEC against premiere defenses. He doesn't have any power implementation to knock LSU off balance. Meyer dominated SEC because in order to run the spread you gotta cram it down their teeth sometimes. If TT was smart they'd put the Bama and Arkansas game on and use a power spread to rip LSU a new one. The spread can definitely work but it needs physicality in it that most seem to lack.
Finesse spreads take advantage of poorly coordinated defenses with lesser athletes and just keeps piling on them like Oregon's scheme. A simple man for man defense like LSU and allowing them to sit back in coverage they're going to stick to them like glue. That's why TAMU was dominated again this year because Steele played more man in that game than zone.
Tech doesn't have the personnel to do this (not many spread teams do and we're not even close), but I think that deuce985 offers a sound analysis...with Tech's 2nd best receiver suspended for this game, LSU will probably run a lot of man and we may have trouble getting separation...Tech will probably run Mahomes a lot in the beginning in an effort to bring up some secondary people...and pray that Mahomes stays upright.

You think Texas Texh is all of a sudden gonna be holding LF7 to 3 and Outs?
No....in my dreams it maybe happens a couple of times....mostly I'm preparing myself to see a future NFL All-Pro running back run up and down the field.
Nice to support a team with a fun offense but it is offset by rooting for a team that can't stop the run against a team with a great back.

6'3" Brian Dennehy played 6'5" Bob Knight in "A Season on the Brink"...but could have played the 60ish Knight in his Texas Tech coaching years....could still play him in his retirement still living in Lubbock between fishing and hunting trips.
