Trying to make Iowa relevant?
Got to take what we can get now a days! Bobby was a great player in his day and good assistant under Hayden.
A little humble pie for Nick always is a good thing ...
A big win for a Hawkeye tonight ...

Bobby Stoops takes down Bama ... nice win for the former all Big 10 safety at Iowa ;-).
Did most of you enjoy that or were you cheering for your SEC brethren?

yes, best 2 out of 3 would be great! Thanks everyone for the kind words... Take care!
I see the thread on Les Miles. I was never much of a fan of his, but I do think he is a very good football coach and knows how to build a strong punishing team that can run and stop the run which is the way football should be played IMO (Alabama does the same). He seems kind of fake to me in the media, but he can coach. Now that he has Cam as OC, that will pay dividends in the passing game (as you guys know).

jonnyhb, this board is chock full of tools.
Every message board has them and we certainly have our share on the Iowa board too!
I'll be back ... I might come down to the LSU vs Wisconsin game next year as I follow the Badgers pretty closely as well (my wife graduated from UW Madison). Would love to tailgate with some of you guys.

What if I were to tell you we are expecting an even better back than Hill to come in next year
I would burst your bubble about star ratings by responding "I doubt that"

What if I were to tell you that the receiving group will be as competitive as this group, with growing pains however
Too bad, the one you have is already one of the best in the country, and you wouldn't have to go through any growing pains

The defense wi only continue to get better with experience
No kidding ;-)
This was a rebuilding year for Iowa so I expect them to be better next year, however each team is different, so you never know. And yes, I do actually know there are 4 teams in the playoff next year, but I fully expected some tools to respond to this topic. Good luck next year!
Congrats to LSU from a Hawkeye fan.

I was impressed by Hill and your OL. You were able to run the ball well against our D which I wasn't expecting.
Your D stepped up as well.
The young QB will be good with some more experience. Too bad the WRs will be going pro (that was what I was reading) as they were the real deal and I would expect LSU to really roll if Hill and those 2 came back.
Good Luck next year. Hope to see you in the play-offs in the near future! We need games like this to let our young guys know where we need to be in terms of OL/DL play and to double their efforts in weight room, etc.

Quit trying to justify a mediocre performance today. They are not good.
You are talking about the same Iowa team that was even with Ohio State in the 4th quarter in CBus?

If I were Chavis I would stack the box against the run and bring pressure up the middle. I like our ability to plays sideline to sideline. If we make them throw, I like our chances.
Iowa will throw it either way ... they like to keep a 50/50 run/pass ratio believe it or not. Rudock will come out throwing off play action right out of the gate IMO.

I went out on youtube and watched portions of the UGA and Florida games as well. Thanks for the info.

Too funny! I think Iowa will still win despite the very good reasons to dislike us, but good post anyway
I think the LSU team will be motivated based on poor bowl performances the last couple years and Les will have them ready. I think Iowa will be really ready though, and they have been improving each week and the bowl prep will give them even more time to get better and confident. Now with LSUs big DT out, that could cause more issues for LSU stopping the run.
Iowa 30
LSU 23
I think the young QB will play pretty well, but have a couple miscues that lead to Iowa points. LSU's kick returner will take one back for a TD, but Iowa's D holds LSU to a couple FGs instead of TDs.
OMVP = Rudock QB Iowa
DMVP = Morris LB Iowa

Ah, the Lowery quote ... I guess if that is considered talking shite then there you go. If LSU needs that for motivation, they might be in trouble.
Do I think it was necessary for Lowery to say anything that could be twisted into "trash talking"? No (I guess he failed the "answer all questions like robots" test), however saying he is confident after watching the film isn't a big deal IMO. The media hypes the SEC teams to the Nth degree all year long... he is just relieved to see actually human beings running routes, not cyborgs.
Believe me, all of Iowa's coaches/players and 99% of the fans respect the hell out of LSU in every way. They know they are in for a dog fight, however they also know they can win this game, since they have been improving all year and have a GREAT group of Seniors leading by example. Being the underdog in Bowl games under Ferentz is nothing new (this will be 10th out of 11 that Iowa is the dog, and usually by 6 or more). KFs record is 6-4 in those games.

"in 2004, they ran their mouths so much about david roth that I puked when we lost the game on the final play."
We love us some Van Halen! David Lee Roth rocks
Maybe you meant to say Matt Roth who played DE for Iowa in 2004.

Players haven't talked any crap that I know of ... and the fans are just confident and are sick of the "we are superior" attitude of LSU fans I guess (if any Iowa fans have talked crap).
From what I have read, the LSU players are taking the game serious and are getting ready ... no excuse of "we didn't care"

Too funny ... Iowa's D will be ready to go as well as the rest of the team. I especially think Jake Rudock will have a good game.
I thought the LSU fans at the game were cool back in 2005, but some of the message board folks not so much (the way it is really, so no surprise there).
Good luck but not too much ;-)

I'm not sure Dicky V's endorsement is too valuable for football
