Future man is cool but he plays what is essentially a drum machine mounted onto a guitar. Have you ever heard him play a real drumset? - not all that impressive. All and all I still dig me some BF and the Flecktones tho
Thinking about catching these dudes tonight in Dallas. Has anyone seen them as an acoustic duo - not with the whole Little Feat? Any thoughts?
I have the basic Audio Technica AT-LP60. About as good as you can get on a budget. Its about $100 and has a built in pre-amp so if you don't have a receiver, you can just play it through computer speakers or whatever. I have mine hooked up through a receiver so I didn't need the preamp. Just make sure you have some descent speakers to play your vinyl through, otherwise the "best sound quality" you spoke of will be pretty pointless.
I've tried to listen to the whole J-Pop things but can't get that into it. Listened to the band Perfume and they aren't terrible but listening to japanese singing throws me off

What do y'all think of him? Neighbors at tbois invited us down to see him in new orleans later this month
From the top of my head: Mcconnell, Medeski, Payne, Benevento, Hancock, Worrell

If were talking jazz Bill Evans is untouchable
RIP Oderus Urungus. Truly one of the GOATs. Sad but, after all, he was 43 billion years old and was assembled on a planet called Scumdogia

I always thought it was for drug use too but find it hard to believe he was kicked out for lyrics about drugs as Zappa was so outspoken about being against censorship

Some buddies of mine saw him and hung out with him in Denton TX and said he was good live and pretty funny

Mac Demarco is $$$$$
I heard they were stopping doing the DaftPhunk show because they didnt want to be typecast as the "Daft Punk Cover Band" but I'm pumped they're doing it again.

What to expect from the music? Obviously really folky stuff but does anything stand out? As good as the O Brother soundtrack?
Had a playlist like this on iTunes entitled "Poundtown" but had to make it less apparent so I changed it to "abc."

New Coen bros movie. Came out today. Isn't in any theaters in BR yet....Has anybody seen it or plan to? Thoughts?
If anyone fricks around with bluegrass Hot Rize, Red Knuckles and the Trailblazers - Live in Kansas 1986 is a solid listen.

Also any live MMW releases are fire

Phish - Hampton Comes Alive

I remember buying this a few years back at a used book store and its one of their weaker live releases. It is 'fun' to listen to because there are a shite ton of covers on it but musically it doesn't do it for me like other live phish releases

this has gotta be up there
You can find tapers at a GWAR show. My point is that if anyone gives a shite about relistening to a live show (with the exception of a few bands) its more than likely a jam oriented band and thus a jamband
My buddy had listened to North Mississippi Allstars for a few years and didn't know the Dickinson brothers were white until we went to see them
Can't wait heard the lot scene is good at Molly Rinwalds shows. THinking about selling grilled cheeses
I'm gunna go ahead and say that primus and BTS can definitely be associated in any so-called jamband scene. You can go to either of their shows a see a taper which puts them up on the jam scale

^Pretty good interview from Yonder on Phish for their 30th. I was at the January 2011 Yonder show at the varsity and it was pretty badass. Best upcoming bluegrass show tho is Sam Bush in Lake Charles 4-5-14. Go if you want to witness a legend.

Sweet I'll check it out. btw Heady, I may or may not have met you at a bar after the A&M game and if I'm not mistaken you said you were going to the Seattle game? Catch the WIlson chant? Know anything about the NFL films special they're doing on it?

Might I ask why?

Any body caught them before? Supergroup of sorts (Ivan Neville, Eric Lindell, Robert Mercurio & Stanton Moore). Plan on seeing them at Tip's next friday. Who's going?
Planned on making this last year but didn't. Seemed too good to be true with the free beer an all. Is it unlimited brew and food and camping all included with the ticket? How was the crowd last year?
