Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel recently said that he would be in favor of a 24-team college football playoff in the future. Per CBS:

A hypothetical 24-team College Football Playoff field, which was initially proposed by luminaries from the Big Ten, seems to be gaining steam. Tennessee coach Josh Heupel recently joined a growing list of coaches who have voiced their support for further postseason expansion. In an interview with On3's Chris Low, Heupel noted that he is in favor of a 24-team playoff.

"The way college football is constantly changing, that probably makes the most sense," Heupel said.
What's your take on the playoffs? Should the bracket stay at 12 teams or expand?

I don’t think he’s saying he’s for it as much as he’s saying college football is so fricked up now we might as well.

I can agree, not because I imagine there is anyone in the 13-24 range that can actually win, but to bring back some meaning to the bowl season and games external to the playoffs. There are minimal games in the month long bowl season that people care about, it’s really just the playoffs that people care to see.

Conversely, regular season would then seem diluted as well

If we're doing this, just make it the top 25 and the last two in can do a play-in game for the last spot.
