Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian spoke with reporters on Monday for his weekly press conference and said that running back CJ Baxter has a hamstring injury and will not play against Sam Houston this week. Per Dallas News:

“We don’t think it’s overly significant, but he’ll be out this week, just from a precautionary standpoint, to hopefully get him ready for SEC play,” Sarkisian said.

After a 6-yard carry on the Longhorns’ first offensive play against UTEP on Saturday, Baxter limped off the field and did not return. Baxter missed all of last season after suffering a knee injury in fall camp that required surgery.
