Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian weighed in this week on the growing debate surrounding players returning to college football after pursuing opportunities in the NFL.

“I don’t even know if it’s good or not,” Sarkisian said. “Is it worth rocking that boat? You know, by bringing somebody in that isn’t familiar with your program.”

Texas, however, recently welcomed back offensive lineman Cole Hutson, who spent four seasons with the Longhorns before pursuing the NFL this offseason. Hutson went undrafted but participated in rookie minicamps with the Cleveland Browns and Dallas Cowboys this summer before ultimately returning to Austin in August.

Sarkisian noted that Hutson’s situation is different from bringing in a player with no previous ties to the program. Hutson already knows the Texas coaches, players and system after spending the previous four seasons with the Longhorns.
