Well, be clear, why don't ya. The topic is not "best beaches". I would agree the panhandle has some of the best beaches in the world. BSL and Ocean Springs are great, closer places to stay for many of us in LA and have great entertainment districts (and passable beaches).

Agree with this assessment. Our last few visits on 30A were not relaxing. We usually spend, at most, one day on the beach while there. The rest of the time, we like to explore the area, visit shops and restaurants, and indulge in recreation like fishing or cycling. Sadly, the overdevelopment along 30A interferes with the pursuit of these goals. Being stuck in traffic is not my idea of a beach vacay.
