I did a similar trip in the summer of 22. Paid a crap ton for 4 of us to go because I was a sissy about language, tours, and travel arrangements. I really enjoyed having Mass in so many sacred places, St Peter’s, St Mark’s, Monti Cassino, Assisi, St Andrew’s . We saw a ton and experienced really cool stuff but group travel is not for me. We ate shitty food, we rushed everywhere and turned a 9 1/2 hour return trip into a 46hour marathon with no sleep except for a few minutes here and there on the 9 hour coach flight to Atlanta.
There is no way I could have done or seen quite a bit of what we were able to on our own but I wouldn’t do it again.
