Where to eat in Quito, Ecuador?

My high school son is going to Ecuador the first part of June. They will be in Quito for 2 days.
Who here has been and where would you suggest he eats? They have a "free day" where they choose lunch.
He loves food carts, outdoor markets, etc.
I will post some of his pics (Galapagos).
TIA

My daughter and SIL spent two weeks there a couple of months ago. I'll contact her to see if she can recommend some places.

I finally talked with my daughter. She's away from home but promised to get back to me in a few days.

Quito has some very nice white tablecloth places that a HS'er wouldn't enjoy. A useful list of public markets that have food stalls is:

He should pick a market close to his hotel.
Quito does have a reputation for Inca Revenge. Take the usual steps...bottled water, no raw salads, no iced drinks, try for street food right off the grill rather than cooked and sitting in an uncovered tray for hours.
If there is time visit a travel doc and get a few antibiotic tables for when Imodium isn't enough.
Also... souvenir shop in Quito. There isn't nearly as much to buy in the Galapagos.

My daughter finally got back to me. She sent this video about Cuenca, where they will be moving later this year. There is a discussion about restaurants at about the 7:40 mark of this video. I don't know if that helps answer your questions about Quito.
