My cousin a travel agent takes a large group every year for the Mardi Gras get together in DC. She offered me a trip, but I passed, might do it one year.

We're going with younger kids (6, 8, 9yo) for Easter. I wanted to do the Holocaust museum but was nervous it may be too much for the kids. Honestly, I think most of it will be over their heads but just curious of opinions from people who have been.

I would imagine most of it would be over their heads. They probably won't read much of the placards but they would see the pictures. Obviously some of the images are tough to see- the ones we've all seen. Mass graves, bodies piled up on trains, etc.

Another thought would be that the kids would just get plain bored while you are trying to see the exhibits. We spent 2 hours there and I would think your 2 youngest would get bored and restless, no matter what museum you are in.

Sorry for late reply. Gallaudet University area was seriously sketchy in my day. Metro station there has improved things greatly. Fantastic school for deaf and signers.

... I think you are in luck because the DC Cherry Blossom Festival is usually at the end of March.

LINK

... Go to the website and take a look at the events you can find oodles to do ...

When I lived in Maryland we went every year because my youngest daughter used to play soccer in the Cheery Blossom Tourament. We always had a great time...

And most of the events are free
