Lake Clark National Park, but I’m probably biased. It’s not cheap, it’s not easy, but it’s a pretty amazing wilderness experience.

I will add another tip to this thread: don't overlook state parks. There are a lot of amazing state parks all over this country with great views, hiking, activities. Most of them are less crowded and more traveler/camper friendly too.

Lake Clark National Park

It is the best NP in the country. One of the best in the world. It has everything, except a lot of people and infrastructure.

I usually don't mention it because most have never heard of it. Everyone knows Katmai, but not Lake Clark.

I tell people for their first visit to Alaska go to the other parks and see Alaska. On their second trip come to Lake Clark and experience Alaska.

To the poster that mentioned State Parks you are 100% correct. Same for National Forest too.

Wood Tikchik and Denali. I like the State park better than the National, for the views.

Which hikes do you suggest at Virgin Islands NP?

We really enjoyed the Lind Trail to Honeymoon Beach, and the Annaberg trail had awesome views of the BVI. The Cinnamon Bay trail is next to sugar mill ruins, if that interests you. I've heard that the Reef Bay trail is the best but I wouldn't do it until the Park Service resumes their boat ride at the bottom of the trail (probably next year). My teens preferred the beaches over hiking, so we didn't do as many hikes as I had hoped. Next time!
