I agree. It's much better to spend your time in specific regions. Traveling long distances during your trip takes up more time than you think, especially if you have to fly. We flew from Venice to Frankfurt and it ended up being an all day event. The trains are much more efficient for traveling.

Unless you spend a day in each location, no way you'll do all that in two weeks.

At some point in your life, go. It would be very easy to end a future trip in the north of France, even if you don't want to stay in Paris long. In fact, I'd recommend going to Bern over Brussels this trip and saving the Low Countries and Normandy for another time.

I've never been to Germany, but I'm sure you'll have a ball. My parents and brother came home with only good things to say about touring castles, Camps, etc.

Was there a couple weeks ago. Nerd out about WII also, so it was awesome to be there, but likely underwhelming if crossing the country for Normandy alone. It's a good little drive from Paris and made a nice day trip - Paris was a great time and much prettier than I expected.

Go to Eagle's Nest. Hands down most beautiful view I've seen. It's a restaurant now so the site doesn't feel quite as authentic, but the trip was worth it for the peak view alone. I'll try and add a pic later. Dachau is a short drive from Munich if you want to see a camp and can't squeeze Poland in as was my case.

Unless you're set on Brussels/Bern, consider Italy. Though the wife has been to Rome, there is so much to do in a relatively small area and the culture in one city is completely different from another. We flew into Rome and took trains to Florence, Venice, then through beautiful countryside to Munich; we opted to fly from Munich to Berlin. We were able to hit Rome, Florence, Venice, Munich, and Berlin (day trips to Cinque Terre, Pisa, Murano, Dachau, Eagle's Nest) in two weeks exactly before continuing on to France and England. In Italy, you can find fantastic sandwiches for the walk if you look. I think we had every meal outside in Italy - some really great cafes hidden in the small streets and alleys. The architecture is great and the churches are stunning.
