Traveling to south Colorado next month

No sure which way you're going to get down there, but if you're going over Monarch Pass and down through Gunnison, the Gunnison River north of town is amazing fishing. Same if you you go a little further upriver past Almont on either the Taylor or East Rivers. That whole watershed is basically gold medal. We've stayed at the small lodge in Almont before just to fish the Kokanee Salmon run in September one year. Caught countless salmon and trout. With kids that young, can’t they just fish in Blue Mesa Reservoir?
