Next month I'm taking the family to Southwest Colorado. I've lived in Colorado Springs for 3 years and haven't gone down that way yet. Hopefully I can find a spot for the kids (2,3,5) to catch even some small fish. Any recommendations while down there?
I've been told to fish the Animas River (sorry of misspelled), we will be 30min from there.

Any information will be welcome.

No sure which way you're going to get down there, but if you're going over Monarch Pass and down through Gunnison, the Gunnison River north of town is amazing fishing. Same if you you go a little further upriver past Almont on either the Taylor or East Rivers. That whole watershed is basically gold medal. We've stayed at the small lodge in Almont before just to fish the Kokanee Salmon run in September one year. Caught countless salmon and trout. If you go that way, call or stop in to Almont Anglers for some location and fishing tips.

The Gunnison River is pretty. Not sure how it'll be that time of year

With kids that young, can’t they just fish in Blue Mesa Reservoir?
