I'm planning a trip to Barbados soon and would love to get advice from you all! I'm particularly interested in finding out about the best places to stay, eat, and visit.

Any tips or recommendations you can share would be greatly appreciated!

We just got back last week from the Sandals there. The people all over that little island are legitimately nice and welcoming. A very safe place.

Go the fish market party on Friday. It happens every night but its more fun on Friday nights.

We did two awesome excursions. One was a motorized bike island tour. I can't remember the name of the group but they were great people and it was a cool tour/history lesson. Gregory and Roger are the owners if that helps.

We booked catamaran day cruise with Cool Runnings. It was great. Snorkeling, great food, drinks and just genuinely a lot of fun. This one will take most of the day. We got back at 3pm and left that morning around 8:30. Eddie Cheeseman is the captain. 246-266-7878.

FYI, there's a lot of sargassum on the beaches right now on the resort side of the island which is why we booked the Cool Runnings thing. To get out to the good water.

I just got back from Barbados last week as well (also stayed at Sandals). The locals were great and knew how to have a good time. Oistins Fish Fry is a must. We ate at Pat's Place as recommended from a local. I also did the Cool Runnings catamaran tour, which was a fun time and highly recommend on Carlisle Bay and around the western coast. The only complaint my wife and I had the entire trip was the amount of sargassum on the beach. One thing that I have heard great things about is Captain Larry's tour of the island but decided to spend our time relaxing.

How would you say getting around the island was in terms of car, walking etc?

One of the best meals I’ve ever had in my life was at an upscale mostly outdoor restaurant there.

The Cliff Barbados Link

It was expensive but the service, the food, and the wine list were top notch.

Our transportation was mostly buses and we got a taxi ride to Oistins. I would not want to drive around that island (at least on the southside). There are no shoulders on the road and felt like we were going to side swipe a vehicle on every turn. They also drive on the opposite side of the road.
